Excellent Motherboard for a Ryzen Build
This motherboard has been a great addition to my system. Installation was straightforward, and it worked perfectly with my Ryzen processor right out of the box. The built-in Wi-Fi is fast and reliable, there are plenty of connectivity options, and the M.2 slots make storage upgrades simple. Performance has been stable under both gaming and everyday use. Overall, it's a well designed motherboard with a strong feature set and excellent value. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

USED-GOOD
Considering this asks about warmth, thickness, sheerness ill rate a 1 for warnth as its NOT WARM AT ALL! thickness is a 6 layer PCB which is EXACLTY what you want or more for ram overclocking PERIOD to have less interference that way, sheerness well, its a nice looking board so i give 5 stars there as for the board itself, easy to work with, has clear cmos jumper in the HARDEST PLACE ive ever had to get to (besides the b450I gaming plus ac which was in between the wifi module at the rear i.o.) to solve this issue i took out a reset button from an old case ill never use again and installed that onto the cmos jumper so i can clear the bios if i need to as i DONT want or wish to remove my vertical mounted gpu if that time comes! also has EZ debug leds which will easy help you figure out what the issue is rather its ram, cpu, video etc, (notes to consider when overclocking ram sometimes youll push Fclk to far and itll say its the cpu which is correct as your ram can do what your asking but the CPU cant keep up). has wifi 6, 2 m.2 slots 1 gen 4 1 gen3, (if your not using a gen 4 ssd you WILL NOT notice any differences whatsoever! Has more than enough fan headers to which i would have rather had 5 HYBRID headers (pwn, pump,dc headers) rather than 8 headers all together (1 cpu 4pin 1 pump 4pin, 6 system header) for some aio/water pumps it wont matter what header you use but for some it does as some are PWM only OR DC ONLY, so this will sometimes matter but its not to big of a deal. the VRM on this board for what this board is shooting towards (audience) is EXTREMELY WELL DONE! has more than enough to run even a 16 core chip (if overclocking this chip id run a fan on the vrm as i would ANY board for that matter) but for most getting this board a 3600, 5600x even OVERCLOCKING these chips wont be a problem for this board its VERY WELL BUILT! ram support on this thing is by far better than its bigger brother or should i say WIMPY SISTER? the x570 gaming edge wifi (vrm GARBAGE, ram overclocking (i got the same results on this board as i did with my others but was easier done on the b550 and less prone to overheating issues on the VRM) on the x570 version running the EXACT same EVERYTHING i am now i hit 80c on the VRM alone to where as this board hasnt seen over 38c. need i say more on that matter? if your looking for a used board from amazon to which your unsure because it states used-good in my experiences if it has the original box included (most the time not always) its going to have all the extra goodies that comes with it and ive never had scratche on anything ive bought used good condition as well as ive been able to register for a warranty on the manufactures website. conclusion as you can see in the pics this board is running fine with no thermal issues, no hiccups, even the bios it shipped with works for a 5600x out the box, i will say that i would only update to PATCH C bios and not use the beta version on MSI website as its not stable at all and locks out FCLK 2000 all together! LOOKING for a great board? THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT!!!!

Best motherboard when on sale well below retail price range.
My Specs: CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 CPU Cooler: AMD Wraith Max Thermal Compound: ARCTIC MX-4 2019 Edition Motherboard: MSI MPG B550 GAMING EDGE WIFI Memory: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Storage: Crucial P5 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Video Card: Sapphire Radeon RX 5700 XT NITRO+ Case: Fractal Design Meshify C Dark TG Pros: I had originally planned on getting a Gigabyte B550 AORUS PRO AC for $170 +TAX but this MB went on sale for $160 +TAX with nice Steam Promo's from MSI, so I got this instead as the Gigabyte MB has a lot of reports of USB 2.0 slots not working with the company having no plans of fixing the problem in sight. MSI seems to have better customer support and also has better RGB Software and wireless/BT hardware built into this MB with Bluetooth 5.1 & Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200, so the decision was a no brainer. The board is heavy over all and the 6 layer PCB/Heat sinks are THICC just the way I like it. Let me know right away that my purchase was something of high quality. My PC build went together fast and easy with no problems, no need to update the bios out the gate to get my Ryzen 5 3600 working and Windows 10 running. The 4.0 PCIE Slot speed is something I'm not sure of with my Sapphire Radeon RX 5700 XT NITRO+ but it works well together and I hope with future GPU releases and upgrades I will see the full potential of this slot. Cons: Low count of USB ports. Needs 2-4 more 2.0/3.2 gen 1 ports, the Gigabyte B550 AORUS PRO AC has 12 USB ports even if they don't all work. The 2nd M.2 Slot is only NVME and shares bandwidth with the PCIE 3.0 Slots, I wished it shared and disabled 2 of 6 the onboard Sata ports instead. You'll need to choose your M.2 SSD and add-on card wisely. Only one M.2 Shield Frozr, really MSI? Gigabyte B550 AORUS PRO AC has 2, so should you.

Good featureset and value
Purchased a B550 Gaming Edge for Black Friday, and at the price the feature set can't be beat. Built in WIFI, reasonable audio and LAN, good VRM, bios flashback, and QVL up to 5100MT/s if ram overclocking is something you might want to try. For practical daily ram speed, Zen will be limited by FCLK though. Since I do not have need of multiple Gen 4 PCIe SSDs, I was not really looking at the X570 boards. They generally are either much more expensive for the same components as a B550, or the more value priced ones have fewer features than comparable B550. The only one I seriously considered was the Asus TUF X570-Plus Wifi, but it does not have bios flashback. Within the B550's, other boards I considered were the B550 Tomahawk, Asus TUF B550-Plus or B550-F, and to an extent the Gigabyte B550 Aorus Pro. Several of those were more money for the same or fewer features. The B550 Tomahawk is similar to this board, except no WIFI and a little fewer IO options. But at the time it and the Gaming Edge WIFI were going for the same price, so it was an easier decision. So far so good and I am happy with the board. Will update the review if that changes.

A month of slicing, dicing reviews led to this purchase...2nd new build..up 1 month...update 2024
Replaced my aging I7 Gigabyte X-58 Intel /12GB of memory and lots of programs...for this board, an AMD-5600X, 32GB of GSkill 3600 memory and a 5600XT Video Card. I fully expected to use Gigabyte again, but after reading the reviews, it didn't cut it for AMD. I didn't want to spend more than $200 for the MB and the Gigabyte Vision was the only board I could see buying from them ($270). THE GOOD: You get a pretty full suite of features for the money. Try to buy MSI certified memory that works on all processors you plan on using (will save oodles of hassles and $). Download their table of supported memory and filter out what you don't want using Excel. Follow the instructions for building and you should have no problems. Mine powered up easily after I corrected a power cable hookup to the video card (wire popped). THE NOT-SO-GOOD: Some have had problems getting the full Internet card working (direct + WIFI). I recommend you buy an M2-NVME and download Windows 10 20H, burn to dvd and install that from scratch. That may help alleviate the problems. I also downloaded new firmware just in case. Have some USB memory sticks available. Miscellaneous cautions: Take a good backup using Macrium Reflect before you start. Install your M2-NVME card first and do the other wiring to your case BEFORE you install the CPU and Memory. Much easier. Validate any SSD's and hard Drives are visible to the bios. You will prolly have to fiddle with it some to get it to boot in the order you want. The F7 toggle thing in the bios with the UEFI/CMS makes this a little more awkward, but I'd rather HAVE the options than not. If you are going the Windows 10 PRO route and are NOT using the retail kit, you will have to get double Layer DVD's as the distro is too large to fit on regular DVD's (and it's NOT offered on USB). I had more problems with Microsoft installation than the actual board install. Other: had to start with the 3600X as I just now got the new processor ( at a non crazy price). Too bad there is so much video board /CPU vaporware. Very pleased with this install. Final Recommendation: It's a go, super fast. You can't go wrong for the $. Update: Still trouble free and working great in 2024. I'm still on Windows 10. There just isn't enough features I would use to go to the trouble of Windows 11 migration, but my rig is ready if I have to.

Great Quality Motherboard
Motherboard was easy to install and worked out of the box easily. One thing to note is that despite the fact that I have been told that the motherboard would not post with a 5000 series Ryzen CPU without a bios update, it did in fact successfully boot into Windows without a bios update although the RAM light on the board was lit up the entire time and the bios GUI was really sluggish. Once I updated the bios through the bios interface (not the bios flash button), both issues were resolved and my system runs perfectly. The built in Bluetooth works great, and I get about a 25 foot range with my earbuds before the signal starts cutting out. This is much better than the Bluetooth on the PCIe Wi-Fi card that I had before, which had a much less reliable signal. The Wi-Fi also works without any issues. The sound card on the board is also good quality, and using the Realtek Audio Console, you can make further adjustments with the equalizer to fine tune the sound depending on your headphones/earbuds. Also, the built in IO shield made installing the board much easier than my prior board which came with a stencil IO shield that was a bit frustrating to get lined up properly. Overall, this is probably best value B550 board you can get from MSI, especially if you can snag it during a sale or with a promotion from MSI.

Works great but there's a couple things to note...
First off... my build: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X Motherboard: MSI MPG Gaming Edge with Wifi Memory: 16GB DDR4 3200MHz RGB Storage 1: Samsung 500GB M.2 NVME Storage 2: Seagate Barracuda 2TB HDD GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super 8GB PSU: 750W 80+ Gold with RGB Case: MUSETEX ATX Mid-tower 903-D6 Everything connected fine and the instructions provided for the motherboard were easy to follow. Issue 1: The RAM slots I had a little bit of trouble first booting up because the RAM wasn't all the way in. There are only RAM clips on one side (rather than both sides of the slot). It clipped in and it felt like everything was in all the way. When I first booted up, the status LED for DRAM lit up and the RGB RAM was not lighting up at all. After pulling them out and putting them back in, it still didn't work. So I tried putting a single RAM in each slot. This is when I realized that even though the RAM looked like it was all the way in and that it was clipped in, it actually wasn't all the way in. So, I put both RAM back in and made sure both were all the way in and everything booted up fine. I looked online and a couple people had that issue with this board. Issue 2: Boot Status LED Whenever I boot up the system from a shutdown, the Boot status LED comes on and stays on even though Windows boots up just fine and everything is working. Restarting the computer seems to fix it. This seems to be a fairly common issue with MSI motherboards so I'm not overly concerned about it. Side Note: The drivers for the Bluetooth and Wifi come on a DVD. Luckily I had a portable USB optical drive so I could easily load the drivers to get Wifi and Bluetooth working. Once the drivers were installed and the computer restarted, everything worked great. Overall, I am very happy with this board. Even though I ran into a couple issues, everything was easy to figure out and I was up and running quickly. I've only been using this setup for a couple days, so if anything changes, I will update my review.

An awesome gaming motherboard.
The motherboard came with a, book! A real book to thumb thru. Very detailed instructions. The MB was easy to install. Very gorgeous board. The LED's are perfect luminosity. I does lack on USB ports but for the price point it worked well. I installed my Ryzen 7 5800X3D and it recognized it without having to upgrade my bios. It gave me extra room for my evga Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 ftw3 than my last motherboard. It has enough inputs for all my 6 fans. I am extremely happy with this motherboard.

Great board overall
Great motherboard! Wifi 6 works alright, although I don’t exactly have a good router anyway. Motherboard does NOT come with mounting or standoff screws, but that was fine for me since it came with the case, make sure it comes with yours. Placement inside the case was a bit finicky, as I constantly was unsure about the pre-installed IO, but it might be more of a case problem. Everything else was mostly straightforward, so far no problems with it and I don’t expect there to be any. Overall the software is great, BIOS is easy to navigate with an advanced mode if you wanna overclock. Awesome fan curve changer. Only complaint is the startup icon is a bit ugly, I would’ve preferred just the MSI logo or brand name instead of a weird thumbnail of what I assume is the Gaming Edge branding. MSI’s mystic light works well. As usual, MSI does not disappoint.

Perfect "everything-you-need" motherboard, one of the best price to performance out there
Great value, works perfectly fine. Zen 3 BIOS flash through USB went absolutely smoothly and I got a respectable OC on my air cooled 5600X. WiFi is also a very nice touch to the MB (the MAG series not having WiFi was a deal breaker for me unfortunately). Everything about this motherboard is juuuuuuuust right, especially if you got a great deal on it because other more featured boards (e.g low end X570 boards) can compete with this "do everything for less" board. $150 on Black Friday? Hell yeah! A word of caution on my shipping experience, Amazon shipped my board in a box that's twice as wide without extra packaging or padding halfway around the world. Count me very lucky that the board still works.
