My daughter is a fashion designer who also collects books on the subject. This makes for an easy gift idea each birthday. I always aim to purchase books that are visually pleasing ... with stunning photography in a well designed format, beautifully printed on quality paper. This book did not disappoint. It is absolutely lovely! I must admit that I did not spend a great deal of time reading the content, and I have not discussed it with the recipient since. I can say that when she opened her gift, she was extremely pleased and fascinated with the subject matter. She is eager to learn more about Valentino. Becoming well-versed about historic designers is something she aspires to and admires in her older colleagues. She also agreed that the book is a lovely piece of art, very suitable for display. I am very pleased with the purchase!

I am pretty picky about Haute Couture books, as for my taste, I always want the focus on the gown unless otherwise stated- I’ve tried several and many have gone back because they weren’t done well- this is an exquisite book! It not only highlights the gowns, has beautiful print, and I love how just as it would be in an exhibit, it names what each gown entails / simply perfect !

I almost hesitated spending this kind of money on any book even though this book is worth much more!So glad I did! It is positively gorgeous! It arrived just now and in mint condition and quickly! I won’t even unselect quite yet as I’m waiting till after my late summer paint job to do so! I’m sure the contents is as beautiful as the cover! Definitely not for a bookshelf because it will not fit unless you have a wide shelf and can lay it flat. It’s a table top book. You sure don’t want to hide this book!

The photographs in this book are just spectacular, as much as they can do the clothing pieces justice. The cover photo is an example of the gorgeous detail you get in all the photos. Sumptuous feast for the eyes and a tribute to the true genious of Valentino. All 5 decades are covered from the 1960's to the millenium and beyond. Most of the pieces are featured on manequins and some by actual models. There are also some pictures of Valentino over the years, including my favorite - one with Jackie Kennedy Onassis. I will enjoy this book for years to come.
