Sliced Pickled Pork (5 Units Included per Order)

I live in Michigan and can’t get this product in any local stores. Pickled Pork is definitely a regional thing. I love this when I make red beans. I am glad I can get it through Amazon and it gets shipped frozen packed on dry ice and I get 5 packs at a time. If you want authentic red beans there really is no substitute. Savoies is the taste of authentic Louisiana Red Beans and Rice. A side of cornbread and you can’t go wrong.

Wonderful tangy pork. Not overly vinegary or acidic. Tender and so useful in so many recipes that need a good tangy pork. Red beans and rice, Jambalaya and gumbo. For the price, you get a lot of pork. Can't find it where I live, so it's perfect to be able to order it.

Package arrived in a few days, packed in dry ice, so happy that the meat was still frozen when I got it. Inspired me to thaw one pack immediately and make red beans and rice. Wow! The meat cooked up so tender and tasty in the beans - sliced like buttah!

This was easy to purchase. I am from Louisiana but live in Florida. The product came frozen well with dry ice. I will order it again.

Perhaps “Sliced Pickled Pork” means something else in other areas, but I purchased this expecting actual slices of pork (these are not sliced at all) with some level of briny/vinegary flavour (tastes like plain pork to me—ham, at best) . There are tons of glowing reviews raving over how perfectly this seasoned the reviewers’ red beans and rice, so I assume that this is exactly what some people expected when they ordered this. If you are thinking of buying this for that purpose, then you will hopefully enjoy this as much as so many others have.Again, I am willing to accept that some of my disappointment with this is because I was not familiar with pickled pork that does not come in a jar. I also didn’t look at the pictures closely enough to see that this must be cooked.My 1-star review is a warning to others who are looking for tangy pickled pork that doesn’t require cooking and that is actually sliced, since it is stated in the listing title.
