Great collagen product - an important new part of my sports nutrition supplementation
This is unflavored and I can't comment as to any lingering flavor by itself as I always mix it with a dedicated protein powder and/or chocolate milk.I began supplementing with collagen earlier this year after my wife reported that she found it helpful. I can't comment as to the benefits for hair, nails, weight loss, or some of the other benefits that some people find. For me, it is all about ameliorating joint pain. I'm an athletic man in my 40s. I do a lot of running and weight lifting and some cycling. I was beginning to experience a fair amount of pain in my knees and sometimes my hips. Stretching, yoga, and foam rolling were helpful, but weren't getting me past all the pain. It was frutstrating as I felt the only solution was to take extra rest days or avoid running whenever I felt the pain. I had taken glucosamine in the past and attempts to supplement with that seemed to have no effect. Then I started supplementing with collagen and the pain evaportated within days. Over the last several months while I've been taking collagen, I've nearly forgotten about the knee pain I had experienced before. My post-workout regimen includes mixing this with a scoop of glutamine powder and a scoop of protein powder. I feel like the mix has been very effective at replenishing everything my muscles and joints need.

No more joint pain
INGREDIENTS and BENEFITS: The 50/50 mix of bovine and marine collagen is new. I've read that marine collagen is good for cartiliage and bovine collagen is good for bones.MY EXPERIENCE: Of course, there's a study that will prove anything you want to prove so I don't put much stock in that. However since I've been using collagen, my joints have stopped hurting so it's worth it for me. I used to have a lot of joint pain. After 4 weeks taking collagen daily, I started noticing less joint pain. After 6 weeks, all my joint pain was gone. Doubt it was a placebo effect as I didn't believe the studies and was only using it to increase my protein intake. I have not noticed any changes in my hair, nails or skin.FLAVOR: While this collagen is not completely flavorless, it's a mild almost not there type of flavor. I like this stuff for smoothies. If you mix it with chocolate or fruit or coffee or anything at all that has it's own flavor, you'll never taste this. Since I use this in my breakfast smoothie, I'm not sure how well it dissolves in just liquid.

What’s with the Proposition 65 warning?
This stuff smells and tastes like absolutely nothing, which is great compared to all those weird stevia-flavored powders out there. I added some to soup, where it disappeared and was completely unnoticeable. The Amazon listing doesn’t mention this, but there’s a California Proposition 65 warning on the jar saying this might contain lead. These Proposition 65 warnings are annoying, since basically everything qualifies for a warning by California’s standards, although I’m not used to seeing it on food or nutritional supplements. More information is needed to put this warning in context. How many parts per billion are we talking about here? I assume that virtually anything that comes from this polluted planet has some lead or worse in it, but how does this product compare to other options? I don’t know.I’m taking off one star since this warning should have been in the Amazon listing, and also it needs more of an explanation. Something like, “We test every batch to make sure the lead levels are below X parts per billion” would make me feel a lot better about this. Some quick googling reveals that “In April of 2019, Environmental Research Center, Inc. (ERC) noticed BioSteel Sports Nutrition Inc. & Smart Warehousing, LLC for violations on 12 products for alleged toxic substances known as Cadmium, Lead and Lead Compounds per the independant testing results of ERC…A settlement was reached in August 2019 which included civil penalties in the amount of $33,451 to the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) to deposit in the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Fund.”This suggests that at least in 2019, some of Biosteel’s other products had more than the usual amount of lead. This particular product wasn’t on the list of contaminated products. I assume that means it was tested and no lead was found, but Biosteel now puts this warning label on all their products anyway in an attempt to ward off lawyers.Or is this warning actually a selling point? Are some bodybuilders so determined to gain weight, they’ll use the same trick that worked for The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County?

Great quality
This is a fantastic collagen mix. It doesn't have any weird aftertaste and mixes perfectly into my smoothies and coffee. I am super happy with this brand. I just wish there was more. I'd highly recommend it!

Unflavored really means what it says
My mother-in-law (in her 60s) relies on collagen to be able to manage daily trips up and down stairs and generally feel more youthful. She's always taken powdered collagen supplements, so even though this is sport-focused (and she isn't running any marathons these days), this has been a great supplement for her. She has noticed that the switch from her previous supplement to this one has been seamless in terms of the effects. Her joints don't feel painful, and she can manage to get around well. The only other significant factor for her is the flavor. Sometimes "unflavored" might mean that it has no added flavor but possesses a flavor of its own. This is completely neutral and adds basically no discernable taste when dissolved in water. The size/amount may be a bit small for the price, but the quality/effectiveness of the product and its lack of flavor are both great benefits.
