CompTIA CySA+ Study Guide Exam CS0-002 (Sybex Study Guide)

Complete package for CySA+ exam preparation...
I used Chapple and Seidl's CompTIA CySA+ Study Guide for my preparation for the exam. I found the writing to be excellent in that you can read this text as a book from end to end. The authors introduce a topic, explain how that topic maps to the exam objectives, and then explain the topic from requirements through implementation and analysis.Need an example? Take a look at chapter 4 titled 'Designing a Vulnerability Management Program'. Why and how would anyone do that? The authors dive in by explaining the regulatory and industry requirements that explain why these programs are needed. They then go into the tools (such as vulnerability scanners) that you would use and the configuration and features of those tools. They did this with generous use of tables and screenshots. One of the important features of any exam prep book is the supporting material beyond the writing. This study guide includes chapter summaries, notes about how topics are covered on the exams (exam essentials), many review questions, and lab exercises. The book also includes the capability to register at the Sybex Test Prep site which includes additional updated learning materials and practice exams.I found the CySA+ exam to be very challenging in that it covers a wide variety of topics in more depth than other CompTIA exams. I found that using this book in my test preparation was very helpful in that it pointed me at the Windows and Linux commands and other tools (log analysis and vulnerability scanning) that I encountered on the exam.

very good resource
Good book. Lays out the exam objectives with the corresponding chapters of the book. I also liked the real world examples and the lab exercises at the end each chapter gives hands on experience to some of the activities one may encounter as a security professional.

Fantastic
This book is fantastico. Now I used Darril Gibson to study 4 my Security+ with prof messer n Jason dion, so when I wanted to write cysa+ I saw YouTube videos and most recommended this book so I ordered it with the practice test, I must tell you, if I had know about Sybex all dis time I wld have used it for my Security + and saved myself reading n forever studying. They simplify everything, I read it like I am reading a novel, and then alot of Security + stuff is also in here. I know I will pass the exam, but I just want to say if you need a book to read and understand concepts, this is it. They did a great job. 👍🏾

Great resource I passed
This book does a great job at covering the objectives. I'd recommend following the books recommendations by actually visiting the suggested websites such as NIST/MITRE/etc.. to gain a better understanding of those topics. Also it is a good idea to actually to go through the practice labs which might require you do download some free software or perhaps watch a YouTube video of someone using the software. Some labs I skipped but once I took the Practice exam I realized that memorization alone cannot be relied on. I will be referring to this book for future interviews for inspiration. I did supplement this book with the companion book for more test questions which I felt went even deeper on covered things that this book didn't cover.

Valuable study companion
***short review*** - this book will be an absolute help in passing the exam, but should be accompanied by some prior experience or additional material for the best chance at success. It's not a magic book that you can read or skim and automatically pass the exam. 560 pages worth of content boils down to 70 questions in the actual exam. For more details read on...When I was comparing books to supplement my studying for this exam, I read a lot of reviews, some good and some bad. A lot, but not all of them, based the review on whether the purchaser passed or not. So I'll try and write one that adds my overall perspective...I have an MS in cybersecurity and have been working in IT for 5 months. I work mainly with NIST 800-53 controls in a compliance role, so not a huge amount of 'hands on keyboard' experience outside of a lab environment. I completed a 36 hour prep course for this test and then read this book from cover to cover. I completed all of the chapter reviews and the mock assessment. THIS BOOK WAS FAR MORE RELEVANT to the test content than the popular online prep course I took. If I did not use this book, I don't think I would have passed. With that being said, judging your readiness by the chapter reviews and mock test is not a very good measure of readiness in my opinion, hence the 4 stars. The only criticism I have of this book is the mock test, which I felt was far too easy compared to the actual test.I added my experience and background in this review to give everyone an idea of the knowledge I had before attempting this test. I believe this book is a great study companion for anyone wishing to take the test, as it is the official CompTIA study guide, and provides insight into how questions should be answered. I did not complete the lab activities that are included with each chapter, (did the online prep ones instead) but they did appear very in-depth and after having sat through the exam, they would have been extremely helpful to do *hint hint* If you are deciding between 2 books, just remember that this is the CompTIA study guide, and you are taking a CompTIA exam.

I just passed!
I took Mr. Chappels Course on linked in as well as used this Sybex book and I just finished my test and passed on attempt 1! I studied for three weeks, and I can say that if you can pass the test in the book, you can pass the actual exam. The book was much harder but it made the test feel a lot less stressful! Thank you Mr. Chappel

Passed using this book.
I was able to pass the test just using this study resource. Some material isnt in the test but good for actual career knowledge in this field and they mention that. Good practice exams and quizzes.
