Simple and effective
I purchased this vest just over 2 years ago and it works as well today as it did on day one. And it worked really well on day one. I live in the Las Vegas area, so I'm no stranger to lots of summer heat. I frequently use this vest for motorcycle rides and when doing any other activities outside (walking, yard work, etc.) from late spring to early fall. I was not given this vest as a gift or promo and am not being compensated for this review.I've found on motorcycle rides in about 105 degrees (F) that these packs will last about 1 to 1.5 hours before they need to be frozen again. I seem to get about 2. to 2.5 hours if it's closer to 80 degrees (F). Even if you lose the cooling from the packs, you can still use the vest as a wet vest (assuming it isn't super humid). I've used this with both the cooling packs AND wet at the same time and it works really well, but the more airflow that hits the vest, the quicker it will dry and the cooling packs get warmer quicker. I've found putting the vest on under my motorcycle jacket with minimal airflow into the jacket keeps it cooler longer (especially when it's over 100 degrees out. I know it seems counter-intuitive, but it works). Also, if it's cooler in the jacket, you don't need as much airflow to stay comfortable. When using just the cooling packs, this still works even when it's humid. The cooling packets are why this vest is so expensive. Go look 'em up separately and you'll see what I mean. So why get this when you can get other vests that use ice packs way cheaper? Because ice does not freeze at 57 degrees, but these packs do. In other words, you can freeze them in the refrigerator or even quicker if you use a freezer. The cooling packs themselves seem to be made of decent material and I've had no leaks or other problems with them. Just make sure they lay flat while you freeze them and you probably don't want to drop them, especially if they are frozen. When I originally bought this, I bought it in a medium and a large since I wasn't sure about sizing. I thought the medium would be too small for me, but it actually fit perfectly. The large was too large, so I returned it. (I'm 5'10 / 180 lbs.).The vest itself has held up well over the last two years. The only "issue" I've had with the vest itself is if the "wet" part comes into contact with Velcro, it will start to pull the material. (Just remove it carefully and slowly). There is no hanging loop on the vest (but you can add one really easily if you can sew!).These vests come with an insulated storage bag that works pretty well to keep the packs colder if you aren't using them. Other insulated bags/coolers would probably work better for this, but I see the bag as just a bonus anyway.

Size chart inaccurate
I purchased this vest through amazon, but used the size chart on the company website which indicates a size medium would fit my measurements. It is way too large and the vest hung off me rather then hugging me in order to feel the coolness of the ice. I think this vest would have done a good job if it had been sized accurately as there were still some partially frozen ice at the end of my 90 minute hike. Disappointed. This vest is unusable and not returnable. Waste of money. $170
