Read to end for tip ;)
I did a bunch of searching that eventually lead me here, for the best value sword I could get.(I knew I would never get anything too great for under $60.00) I saved up a bit of money and accidentally activated the prime trial so I figured why not and got it. At first I was super excited. Even when it came with, what I figured was protective wax, disgustingly smeared allover the blade and it was turning into a nasty crust and soggy powder. I cleaned it up a bit and it looked amazing! I noticed the decorative knife on the side and took it off to see if it was sharpened(it wasn't) and it made a snap and I wasn't able to get it back in. I tried everything and then asked the seller if it was supposed to come out, they said yes so I was left with taking a knife and carving out a channel for it. 😞 I honestly didn't care too much, I was mainly dissapointed with how the blade bent after playing fruit ninja (as you do when you get your first sword!) And the lemons put a curve in the blade so it bows to the left as you hold it out straight. 😭 the illusion was over and I knew it was a cheap dull sword.(it was dull when I got it and I saw a comment saying it was sharp and was 50% why I had chosen this one)Ps. lemons are acidic and will rust the blade😅

Not sharp coming in, bad cloth case, durable blade
I purchased the Handmade Zetsurin Samurai Katana with the black scabbard, hoping to offset the white one that my sword teacher bought for himself. Seeing the quality of his blade and given the fact the link he sent me led to this, I thought I was in for a treat. Instead, I got a blade that was dull as a rock but (thankfully) was easy to sharpen, was identified as a t-1055 carbon steel count by my teacher, and the cloth casing in which it was to be contained was horrid. I couldn't even sling it over my shoulder without having to first remove my coat (winter weather here) and had to carry the blade by hand which I may not necessarily have a problem with when I don't have anything else to carry. The only reason I marked this as okay is because the Kozuka knife was good quality, just like with my teacher's blade, and it was durable enough to be used for solo training which has become its primary purpose. I also got myself two blades after that (from different vendors, of course) that were INSANELY better. So durable blade that could be sharpened relatively quickly but otherwise, a disappointing product.

STURDY AF! Still looks great four years later.
For the price, I was honestly expecting a lower quality product, but fortunately I was wrong. This thing is awesome. I've had it for 4 years now, and it's been put through all sorts of punishment; chopping through cardboard boxes, phone books, plants, and any other bits of junk I felt like destroying with a katana. Even after all that, the sword is still pretty sharp and doesn't show any signs of damage besides a little fraying and grime on the handle wrap. Overall, it has held up great over the years and still looks fantastic as a bit of decor to have around the house. As other reviewers have said, the balance of the blade is very good and it feels like a very functional sword. I'm extremely happy with this purchase, all of my friends think that it's super cool.

Not just a wall hanger
I'll keep it simple. It's everything they said it was and more. High quality at a good price. Once you've held it, felt the weight and proper balance you'll understand. They even make sure it's correctly oiled right out of the box. On that subject this sword it made from high quality high carbon steel. Carbon steel unlike stainless will rust. Use your sword all you want just remember to completely clean and properly oil the blade after each use. If you just want to hang it on the wall for looks the oil that's on it will eventually dry out. Remember to inspect it once a month. If the oil is drying out clean the old oil off and put new oil on it. Amazon carries the oil and cleaning kits. Or use any high quality higher viscosity oil. The thinner the oil you use the faster it dries out.

Great!
This katana was above my expectations. It was razor sharp along the entire blade. I compared it with another one of my katanas that wasn't as sharp as this one. I saw a thin line showing the sharpness of the blade on the Zetsurin compared to the other low carbon grade blade katana that was extremely more dull compared to the Zetsurin. The wrap around the handle seems to be dirty but I guess that's the way the color is. I don't think it would look attractive if the wrap was a complete snow white. It would look more like a katana used for cosplay if that was the color of the wrap. One thing that annoys me is that the kozuka doesn't go all the way in. It stops 3/4 of the way in and I can't push the handle in at all. That's okay, it still stays in there. The very tip of my kozuka is bent.It probably isn't too good for your sword but cutting water bottles doesn't really show the quality of a sword to me. So I went out cutting branches. The thickest branch I was probably able to cut with a clean cut was one the size of my middle finger. It's that sharp. The segeo which is the little bow on the saya or sheath looks really nice. For anyone wondering or have the product, it's meant to be tied that way. I think it adds a lot more to it having it dangle on one end like that. I tried taking my sword apart but I wasn't sure if I was doing it wrong or something because it just wouldn't come apart after I gave it a few taps with my right hand. I inspected the sword and I seemed to have found some hot glue residue. I was able to put back the pins perfectly meaning that the blade didn't even move. The sword bag it came with was just a regular sword bag. It did have lots of Styrofoam on it from the package but that was easily removable. Remember when putting your katana in a sword bag, to leave about 1-3 inches from the bottom to prevent the bag from ripping. I wasn't sure what the bag was made out of but it was easy to hold and pretty smooth. I'm pretty sure cotton. This is a wonderful Katana and for it's price it's worth it. I would expect something like this to be 100 dollars but it's only about 50 dollars. A great deal for a sword with delicious eye candy and a razor sharp blade.

best value katana.
i bought this to take camping in the woods mostly so i could play with it and hack trees. It is a great value at its $109 price. the sword steel is of good quality and you will not likely find a sword so cheap with this quality steel. As other reviewers mentioned, the throwing knife is not tight in the scabbard and was loose in the packaging and will fall out easily. The sword is the opposite, as its tight as can be in the scabbard and takes strength to remove it, if placed all the way in, i usually leave half a centimeter so i can more easily remove it from the scabbard. I find the throwing knife to be quite sharp, but the sword is only semi-sharp, you may want to have it sharpened, depending on what you plan to use this for.I find the balance very forward, which is normal for katanas, but something to think about. The scabbard is nice, but mine came with small cracks on either side of where the throwing knife is stored. another thing is that the knife doesnt sit flush in the scabbard, and sticks up past it, rubbing against the swords hilt when both in the scabbard, and doesnt look very 'hidden'. The brass looking piece has china lightly embossed on it which sucks on a japanese sword. To be honest i was a little disappointed when i first took this out of the box, and considered returning it, but after waving it around a bit as well as looking at the other options to buy a similar quality blade, i realized im not getting anything noticeably better without spending 2x as much, so im content now. The steel of the sword is good and thats the main thing. I gave 4 stars because of its overall quality, but if rated on value/price alone this would be 5 stars.

This is a very good katana overall
This is a very good katana overall. A definite must-buy option for any enthusiast or collector alike. The materials used in the construction of the katana are up-to-par and etrading was fast in it's delivery. No complaints and I will definitely buy from etrading in the future.

Strong!
Great for both display and use. The sword is full tang as promised and decently sharp. I've only used it to cut some fruit so far (3 months) but the blade seems very strong and isn't wobbly at all. It fits nicely in the sheath, the sheath itself is rough on the inside. The sheath had a tiny crack and the gold paint on the sword wasn't perfect, but it still works like a charm. Other reviews say it will rust if left to air, so I put a little veggie oil on mine after each use. As for the knife, it doesn't seem to be weighted for throwing but its wickedly sharp and pointy. 5 stars for quality and strength.

A great sword for a great price.
I was kinda scared to buy this due to a few of the reviews and the question I asked wasn't quite answered either. So I didn't expect much but I would honestly pay 500$ for this sword, the knife is a little off the scabbard but if you actually look at the picture, it's the exact same. It is super sharp (that was my question) almost cut my thumb wiping the metal grease off of it when it arrived, 10 of 10 for the sword, a must have for anyone who collects them. I'll be buying all my swords from this seller from now on. Great job
