Good Randolph Scott Western
Entertaining western. If you like Randolph Scott than you will like this movie. Typical western from the late 40s, kind of corny but a nice diversion from today's violent movies.

A greatly underrated Randolph Scott movie
A fine script by Alan LeMay, the script writer and novelist who wrote THE SEARCHERS. A very strong cast headlined by Randolph Scott. Beautiful scenery, though this free download version from Amazon Prime is not as clears as it should be. Tense drama relieved by some deft touches of light comedic dialogue and action. All of this adds up to a very underrated Randolph Scott movie. Many, including me, regard this as one of Scott's top movies before he began his long association with director Budd Boetticher. And it is better than some of the Boetticher movies.

Good Randolph Scott movie, and hard to come by
These reviews can be misleading. There are really 2 parts; the technical quality of the movie (sets, location, viewing quality, sound quality, video, transfer etc., and then the actual movie itself; directing, acting, story, staging, etc...I gave this offering overall (both parts of the movie) 4 stars because it is one of my favorite Randolph Scott movies which is hard to come by these days. A good, somewhat unique story, good supporting cast and well put together for it's time. The story was derived from a Zane Grey novel so it had a good start as well. The technical quality is a different issue; It just not very good at all, just ok at best. Mostly because the transfer was not high quality so the sound and picture are not as good as could and should be these days. But if you like Randolph Scott and have not seen this movie, it's still worth a view.

good story with good actors but flawed
This is a relatively good story--it comes from zane Grey--but the streaming tape is very dark and marred by some flaws that effect the clarity of the picture. Moreover, the subtitles are unintelligible in many places. All the sentences from various actors are written together without punctuation so that it is impossible to attribute any given sentence to any given actor. Very bad for us very hard of hearing.

Great Fun
It was great fun seeing this Scott movie in color for the first time. I had only seen in in black and white a couple times before, in the days before color tv, This time I noticed that he was riding a big sorrel that might have been the daddy for his palomino Starlight that he rode in most of his later westerns. It was a fun western based on a Zane Grey story and with all the action that we came to expect from westerns made at that time. A great addition to my collection.

Defective - missing a key part of the movie.
At the end of this movie, there is a part that is about a minute or so long that is missing. It is an important part because the sheriff is telling Brazos, among other things, that Banner and his daughter Bess are going to be brought up on charges. We noticed how that scene just seemed to be cut short so when the movie came up on tv we watched it and confirmed that. We are now leery of buying again from Gozillaflix.

Movies from Gozillaflix
Great movie of Scott's. Gozillaflix movies have not been quality Color off, hazy, which takes away from the enjoyment of the movie. I don't plan to buy anymore movies from them since I have bought 5 or 6 that the quality was not good like this one.

Gunfighters
