Pathfinder Roleplaying Game: Bestiary 1 (PATHFINDER RPG BESTIARY 2)

I grew up on D&D second edition. Loved it. Third edition wasn't simply a change to the rules, it was also a brilliant restyling of a classic system. I loved the new art. It was nice to see real artists drafted into the design of a game they probably loved as much as me. The one design problem I had was the layout of the Monster Manual. The art was good, and generally the design was superb; but they mashed all the monsters together. The info for one monster would start on the bottom of one page and finish on another. Pictures for monsters would appear next to other creatures stat blocks. This was just distracting.So far I love Pathfinder. They have all the style, artistic flare, and professionalism of D&D. I just got my copy of the Bestiary. And they fixed my only gripe aesthetically about 3.5! Each monster has their own page. No more split entrees.Thanks to the pathfinder design team. I can now say that I like Pathfinder as much, if not more then 3.5 in every way, system and design.

I liked this creature reference book for Pathfinder

This book is really a must if you want to DM a group and you are not keen on using pre-made material. The art is astonishing, the paper quality is very good and the bindings are very well-made. The layout itself covers everything in order to use one of the many monsters inside and, for the first time, clear and simple instructions to create or modify one. Descriptions are good, including info on the monster's habitat or customs (as it used to be in TSR products). All in all, it is a great product, and I am looking forward to getting the next one. Paizo is doing a great job with his Pathfinder Roleplaying Game line.

Like most Pathfinder books it has great art and a nice clean page layout that makes it easy to read stats. It includes most of the common monsters from the oldest rpg around and it gives guidelines for making new monsters. This and the core rulebook are pretty much all that's needed to start GMing a Pathfinder game.

I found the exact copy I wanted and it was delivered where I wanted. The entire experience was perfect. Thanks Amazon! I'm a loyal customer now.

Art is great, and the format (one monster per page, generally) makes it easy to use.Compared to other books of the sort, the Pathfinder Bestiary comes with all sorts of useful encounter tables and lists in the back! I used to dread having to make custom manuals and write out all the information from the book because the way it was organized... But this book is well organized and full of useful things!

I needed a replacement for one of many bestiary I lost. It was for a good price so I nabbed it. If you play Pathfinder 1e this is a must have for GM(DM) and PC alike.

As usual with these bestiaries and Monster manuals for various fantasy RPG, there are some classic monsters, some well thought out and some outright stupid ones.Oh, well...This one is actually well below average in number of stupid monsters and this is actually the one reason that decided me for Pathfinder.In my campaigns I typically prefer setting up interactions with groups of intelligent monsters rather than have the PC encounter a mimic (p205) and the standard goblin (135XP) or orc (135XP as well -huh?) are not enough stats to describe a war party. For this I got the Monster Codex which is just right.Still this bestiary is a necessary tool for the GM and as bestiaries go this is one of the best I have seen.On the other hand I had not procured any of its successors.

Yay monsters! Easy to adapt to 5e. The icons for beast type can be a little difficult to read because they are very small but otherwise great.

Todo lo que necesitas para sacar esos entrañables monstruos que intentarán acabar con tus pj's. Un imprescindible, bien maquetas, con buenas ilustraciones.

As new Pathfinder GM with experience in other systems, I consider this a very well made bestiary. It covers everything you need to get started and should be considered part of the core rules, because this is the only book referenced in the core rule book.In the last chapter there are great overviews and tables of the monsters sorted in different ways, this is really helpful when designing an adventure.
