Pearled Barley - 50 Pound Bag

This grain is very well known in Europe and Asia, but in US most people only know it from being bread flour addition. It cooks in about 45 minutes on low setting, it is very sticky when cooking and has excellent texture of not-overcooked oatmeal - bit soft and bit crunchy. You can add handful to soup and boil it with whatever is your fancy or precook it and mixed with your hamburger or ground turkey. Also good as side dish to replace mashed potatoes or rice. If I remember correctly pearled barley was one of favorite foods of ancient Egyptians. If you like natural grains with neutral taste and high nutrition this is the way to go and does not need refrigeration. All is needed is to keep it dry and be patient when preparing it. btw.. you need this "pearled" version which is shell-less. Barley in shell is too hard to cook normal way, when pearled one is just right and still has plenty of fiber. Honeyville shipped me perfectly fresh and very well priced huge bag.

Arrived in time. This is my first time to eat barley to substitute wheat flour and rice since the glycemic index if barley is lower. Love it. Great price,too.
