Simple, portable saw; Not the most powerful, but great for basic work.
I own a couple of the B&D 20v tools, so I decided to add this to my inventory. Overall, it's a good little saw. I used this for a couple small projects, including cutting a 1 1/2 thick worksurface in half to make a small 2 level workbench. The saw struggled if I pushed it to fast, but it cut through the material cleanly and quickly. I've also had to cut down a few 2x2 posts for newly planted trees, again - it got the job done. The portability of the saw makes it very versatile for completing these quick one-off tasks. The design of the saw (handles, weight, and operation) are very comfortable. It's not overly heavy but still feels solid. Battery life is what you'd expect for a high-draw application like this. I have not yet run the battery down while using it, keeping in mind that I'm using this saw for smaller, quick finish projects. I like the functionality that the saw provides with the ability to adjust the cut depth and angle, along with not having to work around a cord. This saw will not replace the traditional electric saw for heavy workloads, but it will definitely keep your projects moving forward. If you don't already have one, buy an extra battery or two. The standard 1.5AH battery drains pretty quickly.

Good ole Black and Decker you just cannot go wrong with them.
Well what can I say it is a B&D product and whether anyone likes to admit it or not, they still make pretty darn good tools after all these years, I realize most will say this is not for a major heavy duty job site in construction, and maybe that is true, BUT for the handy man job around your home or doing small maintenance projects or to have to carry in truck for small jobs you cannot go wrong with this circular saw plus it can use your 20 volt batteries from your outdoor lawn and garden cordless tools, a money saver on the extra batteries and chargers. It works wonderfully and is very accurate in its cuts, it is small blade or 5.5 inches but hey it gets the job done on many projects for the handy man. I highly recommend it, easy to use, lightweight and very durable with great clean cuts.

Great Saw except for blade installation
The price is great the saw works well. It has good safety additions, two hand hold, instant blade stop when releasing the trigger etc. However changing the saw blade is aggravating, Installing the blade is difficult because it just doesn't just slide in you need to force it in a bit without being injured from the blades. There is a good short video on YouTube that shows someone installing the blade. The bolt has directions for tightening "stamp on it" which is in the opposite direction you normally tighten an loosen most nuts. Note this is the opposite direction in which the saw blade rotates. If the blade starts to stall the nut may not be tight enough. The supplied manual directions on removing and installing the blade are next to useless. Since the saw blade that comes with it has only 12 teeth it doesn't give a very smooth cut. I like others have change saw blade to a 36 tooth blade. The blade that ships with the saw has a 3/8 arbor and it has blade direction opposite of normal saw blade direction. The new blade I purchased has a 5/8 to 3/8 bushing adapter. You need to match the arrows of the blade in the same direction which is marked on the chain saw guard. You may need to turn over the blade which puts the label inside,or hidden because it will be the only way which will match the circular saw blade direction. The good news is this the best your going to find. More powerful and you will go through batteries quickly like the Rockwell. I have a 4amp battery that works great. Smaller ones will work also but not as well. This goes for most compact circular saws. I don't believe this is for the professional but Black and Decker is know for reliable tools that are used around the house. I am thankful I can get a saw so cheap. I have several.

Gem of a battery powered saw!
OK, disclaimer -- this is the first circular saw I've owned -- but it far exceeded my expectations, both in performance and quality! I've borrowed and used other saws, so not a complete neophyte. This saw is light, maneuverable, and makes accurate, clean cuts. The standard blades has held up well cutting a variety of treated lumber (2x4, 2x6, 2x8, 4x4, 1x5, and more) over the course of building a 10x14' deck, resurfacing a 3x20' walkway, and building a 6' bench. The adjustable depth and angled bevel features came in handy multiple times. And the best surprise was the battery life -- a 2 AH battery lasted all day for me! Recharge it overnight and it's ready to go the next morning. I initially bought this B&D circular saw because I had a weed eater of the same brand that used the same 20V battery, but given my experience, I'd buy it on its own merits! I now own a B&D cordless drill as well as this saw and the previously mentioned weed whacker and have been more than pleased with the performance of all three! I'm not a professional and don't use these tools on an everyday basis, but if you're a weekend projects person, I highly recommend the B&D 20V line of tools. From my research, these are about half the price of Makita, Dewalt, Craftsman, Ryobi, and the like.

Excellent Battery Powered 5.5 Inch Circular Saw
I was so pleased to buy this circular saw because I had an extra 20 volt battery that I got with my Black & Decker BDCDHP220SB-2 20v Max Lithium Drill Driver with 2 Batteries . It comes with a 5.5 inch circular blade that is very appropriate for most general projects around the house. This saw probably isn't going to replace your AC powered 7.25 inch circular saw for big projects. But for me, this is just what I wanted to be able to go about anywhere without needing a AC power outlet. It is heavier weight than I expected - very robust appearance and has a great feel in your hand. At first I thought it was a 7.25 inch circular saw, but apparently I've forgotten since I sold off all my tools ten years ago. I haven't tried to see how long the battery will last yet. I have a total of four 20 volt batteries that fit it, so I'm not concerned. One of my 20 volt batteries is a 4 Amp Hour battery. I need the 4 Amp Hour battery for the trimmer and even then, sometimes I have to switch over to one of my other 20 volt batteries when the 4 Amp Hour battery is depleted. I am very pleased that Black & Decker has standardized on 20 volt batteries. It is really annoying to have a wide variety of tools from the same manufacturer and none of the batteries are interchangeable. A 20 volt lithium battery should be able to power most everything around the house. I have one Black and Decker 36 Volt blower that I already owned and I'm keeping it because I need two blowers (one for my wife and one for me). I am up to seven Black & Decker tools that use the same 20 volt batteries.

Good saw but weak points
This little saw is pretty good. But the push lip that raises the blade protector when starting to cut easily snapped off mine This morning and I tried raising it by hand and badly cut my finger. Luckily I let go of the trigger quickly and just cut about 1/2 way into my finger. Other than the weak lip it's a decent little saw. I should have known better than using my hand to push up the guard. Just trying to get finished

Good value but watch out for jam situations
Have had this saw for over 2.5 years. Had been fine for small DIY projects. Light weight, quick to use & good price. But... Attempted to use it to cut up an old plastic chair floor mat so would fit in the recycling bin. The saw did fine until came to the area where the plastic was cracked. The saw jammed. With the battery removed, the blade would manually rotate to one point & no further. When tried w/ the battery again, there was a burning smell. Appears that the saw does not have adequate protection for jam situations.

Buen producto
