Cool Book but was used
Got the book today. While looking through it I could feel something on the front and back of book. Like it had been in a shop and they were staining. Just felt yuck. Interesting projects. Not happy with that. Paid for a new book not a used one.

A book for learning about using the lathe.
The book is a start for learning about wood turning. I recommend this book plus other books and videos to learn about wood turning before using the lathe. Use safety equipment and work safely.

Woodturning Begginners Handbook by Stephen Flemming is Very Poorly Edited
I found this small self published book/guide to be very poorly edited with numerous mistakes and errors. It is so hard to interpret that I decided to return it.Examples of this are on pages 12 -13 which have a diagram/photo of the Wood Lathe, with text pointing to different features, such as the1 - 'Tool Rest' (referred to in the text as "Turning")2 - Lathe Bed - (then this as the description from the text) the bottom part of the lathe is the tailstock, and also banjo can slide up and down and be locked into the area as required. [I would say "The Lathe Bed is the main base or backbone/foundation of the lathe, to which the Headstock with 'Drive Spindle', and the Tailstock with 'Live Center' are attached. The Lathe Bed also provides the mounting slot for the Banjo with Tool Rest.] There is no label in the photo for the Banjo.3 - The Headstock is referred to as ('Head Supply': This is the part where all the power originates.) Actually the power originates in the motor with drive belts and pulleys transferring the motor's rotation to the Headstock and Spur or Drive Center. This book could be quite useful IF it were thoroughly edited and rewritten.Sorry to say, I would not recommend this book.

Not a good reference book
I had high hopes. Fairly new at turning but otherwise I’m an experienced woodworker. Way too basic. Just common sense phrases about being safe that go without saying. I lost it when I read the heading “If you’re not blowing up bowls, you’re not trying hard enough.” After skimming through the whole book; I decoded to return it the very next day.

Dreadful. Don't waste your time or money.
Dreadful. Hastily thrown together, stuffed with filler, written as though it's been translated from another language and lacking in any real information. Full of superficial advice with no detail on how to actually do as advised. The sort of thing that wouldn't have found a publisher if it wasn't for print on demand self publishing.I'm suspicious of some of the glowing reviews which seem to bear little resemblance to the book I just read.

Not English so expect different discriptions
This book is supposed to be for beginners but there is not enough information on which tools to use for what. It is also an American book so the tools lathes and some information are bigger and different from UK versions. Found lathe manual far more informative

Reads like a badly written 14-year old's essay paper
I couldn't take this book seriously. It was like reading a badly written 14-year old's school essay paper. Everything about this book felt like it was home produced. It was padded out with fluff to use more space. The spelling and grammar were simply hideous - I'm guessing because it was probably subbed out on Fiverr and written by an outsourcer. Several photos are printed back to front - spotted because the text in them is reversed.Don't waste your money on this absolute rubbish of a book. It will teach you nothing and annoy you greatly!

a waste of money
Dreadful, Abysmal, shocking, poor quality, terrible, astonished money is asked for, shameful, .......I am very suspicious of anything above a single star ... This book should be removed from circulation. If you claim to be an authority on a subject you should at least try and do a decent job. This book has been nobbled together and should be advertised as a doorstop or sold as loo paper.

Little detail and poorly written
As other reviewers have said this is little more than a pamphlet. The detail is inadequate for a beginner and of little use to a more experienced turner. The presentation is poor with many fuzzy unlabelled photos, poor use of language and many errors not picked up in proof reading. Not recommended. There are much older books which are far better, the principals have not changed in decades or even centuries.
