Book half decent, online service kinda sucks
I just want the practice tests, but I skimmed through the advice, tips and lessons in the book and online and it’s good I guess. However, the book says there are 8 practice tests. Apparently half of them are online, which I didn’t see mentioned anywhere and I prefer paper tests because it’s more realistic. In addition, the online tests don’t tell you your score so you have to calculate it yourself. It’s also a bother to navigate, I can’t just jump around within 1 practice test, I have to go back to the dashboard, click on the test I took, and then go to another section. In the tests themselves, the questions are always at the very end so each time, you have to scroll pass the passages to get to the question. It’s also always timed, no not timed option. Sure it gives me a bunch of stats like the average time it took my to do each question or the percent of each section I got right but I DON’T CARE, I JUST WANT THE SCORE. If you’re COMPLETELY clueless, if you’re like a freshman or something, this book might help you, but I’m a junior just looking to make my 1450 to at least 1500, and so this book wasn’t that useful to me.TLDR: I just wanted the practice tests, but the online tests are hella annoying.Edit: I can’t stand the online practice site anymore, it’s insufferable. Also, after taking more tests, they just get more unrealistic. The math with calculator section for example has questions about stuff I remember learning in precalc, and I know after doing all the 2020 official SAT practice tests and taking 2 PSATs and 2 real SATs that they would never be on it. It’s not as unrealistic as Barron’s, which is notoriously known for its outdated and unrealistic math section, but it’s still bad. It’s too late to order another SAT prep book for me, this was a waste of time and money. Again, I’d say that if you are ABSOLUTELY CLUELESS, if you know NOTHING about the SAT, if you’re going into this blind, ONLY THEN MIGHT THIS BOOK BE USEFUL. In all other situations, just buy the Princeton review set of practice tests along with the one from the college board. I also used Barron’s, and it really beat the crap outta me, but it unintentionally helped me with timing.
