TevraPet FirstAct Plus Flea & Tick Treatment for Cats Over 1.5lbs, 6 Months

I’ve been using TevraPet FirstAct Plus on my cats Lemon and Pepper, and it’s been a solid flea & tick treatment. Ease of use is excellent—the applicators are simple to open and apply to the base of the neck with no mess. It doesn’t feel sticky or greasy after application (non-sticky), which is nice. No noticeable odor either, so they don’t smell after treatment. Neither cat has shown any skin irritation or side effects, and the constant scratching they were doing before has stopped. Happy with the results so far and glad I found a more affordable option that still works well for both of them. Would recommend.

This worked really well on our cats! We have multiple cats with different coat lengths, and I’ve been impressed with the results. Our long-haired cat had the biggest flea problem, and now I’m not seeing any fleas on him at all. That alone made me feel like this treatment was worth it. It was easy to apply and seems to be doing exactly what we needed it to do. So far, I’m very happy with the results and would definitely purchase it again.

FirstAct has worked for my cats for many years now in preventing fleas. It is also easy to apply and doesn't sting or burn their skin like other products. It does NOT do a perfect job on ticks though. Depending on your local situation and how severe the tick problem is in your area some of the buggers will still latch on and you will have to stay vigilant. Much less, yes, but still. I don't know whether they would survive the active ingredient but you don't want to take the chance and find a disappointed tick falling off the cat crawling around your living room looking for a better-tasting host.

So I bought this because I needed to try something different for my cat to treat fleas. The product I was using at the time wasn't lasting a full month. My cat is light colored so she gets fleas worse than our darker furred pets. Having used Frontline Plus in the past I know that if you're having a difficult time controlling the flea population and you're doing all the right things the chemicals used in both products can be used twice a month for a short time. It had been a while since I used this kind of flea medication so I hoped they hadn't developed an immunity to it like fleas often do. For the number of doses you get for the price I thought I'd try this product. So I put a dose on her as directed. A few hours later she seemed to not be scratching or chewing at her fur as much. I thought, "okay this might work". It didn't. The next day she was back to scratching and chewing her fur but this time it was worse. I thought that this was a sign the fleas were dying and it would subside in a day. But the next evening while she was laying next to me, exhausted from the fleas attacking her, I noticed about 4 of them on her face. I quickly got to work to remove them and noticed that the amount of fleas she had on her was twice the amount before I applied the product. Eventually they were everywhere and I was heartbroken. It was like I had put an open for business sign for fleas on my cat. I spent the next few days going the old school route with a flea comb and soapy water. I had to do this 2 or 3 times a day to keep the population at a reduced number. After about a week or so I was so desperate I ended up getting my previous flea medication and putting that on her after giving her a bath and comb. I hoped it wouldn't harm her. She was a little less energetic than normal for about a day and a half. I continued with the flea comb as well as treating the home. Eventually I got the flea problem mostly under control. It did take time to get back to a smaller number after using this product. I don't know what it is about this flea medication but it was horrible. The entire experience was a nightmare. I wanted to return the rest of the vials but was told I couldn't because the company that makes it wouldn't allow it. I kept fighting until I eventually received a refund. If you care about your pet do not buy this product. Stay away and look elsewhere. It's not about price for I've used cheaper alternatives before without having the same issues. It's simply a bad product.

This has the same exact ingredients as the kind that I’ve been spending outrageous amount for at the vet with a prescription for. My cat super sensitive and normally starts to foam at the mouth if I use the cheap stuff. It’s super easy to use. Just be careful because sometimes if you don’t have it all the way to the bottom it’ll come out when you cut the tip. My cats don’t really mind it. There’s no major side effects but for a couple of days it does leave like a greasy spot along the back of their neck. I can’t really smell it either, which is good but it works. We have seven cats so we have to do what we can to make sure nobody gets fleas in the house and it seems to work. I’ve been using it since spring and it does the job just like the expensive stuff.

W used the tevra 1st act for Over 2years and never had a problem. No fleas no ticks. A few months ago it just stopped working. I'm going crazy trying to help my cat but it's getting worse. I called tetra to ask what has changed? I got a message but I need to speak to someone. My cat is 20lbs but you can't give them another dose before 30 days. They left me a message saying fleas might be immuned to this as it's considered an " older medication" now. They would send me something else to try or a refund if I chose. I wanted to give it one more month because it used to work and maybe it was a fluke. It's been several months now and I've left 2 more messaged and now no one calls back. I'm getting angry and very disappointed now. Don't waste your money because if she was right it will stop stop working if fleas become immune. And apparently you won't get a refund as guaranteed. Even after almost 3 years of using and recommending their product. That's a lot tevra.my cat isn't going to suffer because of you any longer.
