LorAnn Oils Hazelnut Emulsion & Flavoring For Baking

This product, I learned about it from a Tik Tok influencer, she highly recommended it and I wanted to try it being I am a hazelnut lover. This product is worth the money, this product is highly concentrated, meaning you don't need much to flavor whatever you are going to use it for. (I am using it for homemade coffee creamer) This hazelnut extract is thick and flavorful, the smell is awesome and the taste is magnificent. I haven't used it to bake with as of yet, but I am sure it will be full of flavor and satisfying, because of the smell, taste, and texture especially in a cake or cookies/ The color is like a very light brown, and it pairs well with almond extract. This is a bakery emulsion. Not to get it confused with an extract. As a professional chef who went to Culinary School, this is a great alternative for baked goods at home. Please keep in mind it has added sugars and pours like a syrup. If this was for a commercial bakery, hazelnut paste would be the most effective. I used this in my cake batter at home and added some to my simple syrup to soak in between the layers of my cake. Not only could you smell it, but you could taste it. I’m writing this review because some of the others weren’t very helpful. What I will also say if you put too much it has a bit of an aftertaste. Fortunately nobody is eating a whole cake to themselves to notice this but my customers were very pleased. Will buy again for at home use. Hope this helps someone.

I'd say this review is a 3.5, rounded up to 4. Their hazelnut emulsion was thankfully not even remotely as fake tasting as their raspberry emulsion, however, still take that with a grain of salt, because if you're looking for an authentic hazelnut flavor, you're better off using hazelnut butter or infusing flavor from actual hazelnuts another way. This emulsion definitely still has that slight sense of "fakeness" to it, where it feels more at home as a coffee-flavoring-syrup type of product, than it does as a genuine hazelnut flavor additive. It is good in coffee, and would likely add a delightful hazelnut note to baked goods. It did not function well in ice cream.

Good hazelnut extract, but it seems like such a small bottle, for the price. But then again, there's not many choices when it comes to hazelnut extract, anywhere.

First, I purchased this product to get away from sweetened creamers and did not notice this product is sweetened. But as you read through this product review, I think you will find the ratio of sugars in this product are insignificant because of the amount you use. I didn't quite follow the instructions on the label, in fact, I guessed. I put a teaspoon into a 12 oz cup of coffee and dumped it out because of how overpowering this emulsion was. Then I read the instructions which recommend a 1/2 teaspoon for 8 oz - So I wasn't too far off... In the next 12 oz cup, I used a 1/2 teaspoon - Still too strong. Then I tried a 1/4 teaspoon - Getting there... I stopped at an 1/8 teaspoon where my coffee was just about palatable. I found it hard to measure smaller doses so I purchased a "Micro Set" of measuring spoons here on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D5LH3K1H?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 I have tried a sixteenth teaspoon dose yet but expect it to come close. Great flavor great potency

Not good at all. I would not recommend, it taste nothing like hazelnut. I make my own almond milk and added this hazelnut flavor and it had no taste or smell at all like hazelnut flavor. I don’t recommend this product at all.!

I add this to my protein shake and it’s delicious

LorAnn is my go-to-brand when it comes to flavoring, a little will go a long way with their products. This Hazelnut emulsion gives you that yummy hazelnut flavoring. When you open the bottle/add it on your batter, it does smell sooo strong and does not smell "natural" but don't be discouraged as it will change when you start baking. The finished products smells and taste like hazelnut without that strong smell from the bottle. This came in a plastic bottle, I prefer if it is on a glass bottle though just like their other products.
