Damn good for freeze dried food!
The pad Thai in particular from backpacker’s pantry is very good. Good flavor, nice texture for freeze dried, price is comparable to similar quality brands - no notes. It’s very similar to real food!

One of my favorite backcountry meals!
So my all time favorite is the Chicken Pad Thai from Backpacker's pantry - IT IS SO GOOD! But honestly this is just as good, it just doesn't have the chicken. I love these because they have these sauces and toppings you can add that are all included in the bag and it makes me feel fancy when I'm out on the trail haha. But seriously, these are delicious and VERY filling. My husband and I usually split one. I put mine into a little insulated coozie bag things so it stays hot while soaking, also usually soak a little bit longer than it says. Highly advise mixing it once or twice while soaking, it seems to blend the flavors better, prevents powdery chunks on the bottom, and helps to evenly hydrate everything.

Dehydrated food is the go to if you’re camping hiking canoeing. Taste good very simple to make.
Freeze dried food is great for camping, hiking canoeing, etc. It’s sealed it can’t get wet, it’s very light, it’s quick and easy to make, and it taste great. It needs no refrigeration. Try some.

Good, different, vegetarian and SUPER EASY
It is good - not great, but good for something different, and I love that it is vegetarian. The taste is comparable to the average frozen meals you can buy in the grocery store. It is not quite as good as Mountain House (at least not this flavor) but it is vegetarian and has a higher protein content. It says that it is spicy, but it is not really that spicy. It also has some vinegar in it, which I wish it didn't. However, it does have enough other seasoning to make up for the vinegar and lack of hot spice, and it is at least not bland. How authentic the "pad thai" flavor is I don't know. But authenticity aside, it is pretty good for freeze dried food that can be cooked and eaten directly from the pouch. This brings me to another point - how easy it is. Open up peanut butter packet and mix in the bag with the other ingredients, add hot water, stir, wait 15 minutes and eat right out of the bag. No prep, no cleanup, just a bag to throw away when you are done. For this it deserves some credit. I am actually using some of these at work where I can just pour hot water from the water dispenser. It is a convenient office meal when you don't have time to eat out or prepare lunch ahead of time. Overall, this is a good product and I will buy it again. The taste is decent, although not really spicy, it is vegetarian and has better nutritional value than most other backpacking foods. And regardless of authenticity, it provides something different than the same old mac and cheese, chicken, beef or chicken and beef flavor typical of the other brands. TIP: add less water at first, especially if you don't have a way to measure 540 mL, then more can be added if needed and that way you can avoid having a watery or diluted meal. Also, eat less of this and have a yogurt cup, protein drink or protein bar to cut back on the carbs and make more meals out of it.

I heard this was the best (vegetarian) flavor. It is.
This is pretty bangin’ pad Thai for freeze dried meal. I bought like 10 of em because I will not be upset if I have to eat this for several days straight. It actually tastes like pad Thai, good pad Thai. There are joints near my house I’ve ordered pad Thai from and it hasn’t been as good as this (maybe that’s saying more about my local offerings than the product here but still). I work a lot and am recently back after destroying my dominant wrist and my partner is disabled in her dominant hand so this is a quick and low effort yet satisfying meal solution that I can whip up for us easily on those days when we’re both just exhausted. Was stoked to find a tasty vegetarian option for freeze dried / quick shelf stable meals.

Okay Pad Thai -- not great, but not bad either.
The Pad Thai is okay. I didn't dislike it, though it's also not outstanding. My brother, on the other hand, disliked it. It is not spicy, or at least not significantly to my tastes -- nor was that the complaint of my brother. I understand it's freeze-dried, so I tend to give some leeway for that. But, even so, it's just okay. It's not bad, mind you. The pouch -- Like some other brands I've tried, this one comes in a pouch. The pouch design deserves to be discussed too. The idea in these pouches of freeze-dried food is that they're easy to carry in a backpack, without refrigeration, and that they have a long shelf life. So the pouch design plays its role in this. The pouch is made of thick strong material. It has an aluminized interior surface, which is excellent for trapping the heat (or cold if called for). It's thermal insulation. This helps keep the food at the right temperature for longer. The pouch also has a zip-lock top so it can be sealed to trap the steam, allowing the food to be thoroughly re-hydrated. The bottom of the pouch is pleated, with the sides going straight down, which makes it very stable as it stands upright. This is important to help with pouring in the water and stirring without knocking over. Because of the thickness of the material when you expand the bottom to make it stand upright it helps the top stay wide open too. With just one hand the water can be poured in, the opening is wide enough.

I consider myself as a foodie and I don't write food review if it is not good/bad enough. So, hear me out. Before I purchase this Pad Thai, I have watched and read a lot review about it and most of the people agree on its wonderful taste. Still, with skeptical, I bought one for my camping trip. When I open it up, there are a bag with three little bags & a small paper pouch in it: peanut butter, roasted peanut, hot sauce and lime crystal These are the extra ingredients you can add into your Pad Thai once it's ready. When adding hot water, try not to add too much at once. You would want to add some more if you found the water it not enough. Over adding water will ruin its taste as it become watery. Once Pad Thai is ready, add in those ingredients till it fit your taste. If you get it just right, you will have one of the best dehydrated food ever! The complexity level of its favor will blow your mind, and the most surprising is the lime crystal did not overtake other favors. If you like hot, spicy, add in some dried pepper flake will further boost the taste. A definite recommend camp food imo!

I have always been skeptical of the freeze dried food but bought this for a camping trip where we had to hike in so weight was a concern. It is really easy to make, just boil water and add to the package. Surprising this turned out excellent, it tastes exactly like pad thai. I have to say this is one of the best tasting freeze dried meals I have found. Definitely try this out!

Purchased this for a car camping weekend that we decided to keep super simple. This Pad Thai didn't disappoint. Very delicious and satisfying - easily enough for two people. The only drawback (which didn't matter to us this time, but . . .) I feel like at 8.1 oz this pkg is on the heavy side for carrying into the back country.

Belle qualité d’aliments, très léger (poids) parfait pour les longues rando et le camping. Portion satisfaisante pour un après hiking

Rehydrated really well and tasted yummy! I always leave a bit longer than what the package instructions say for rehydration BTW.
