All-new Echo Dot (4th Gen) + Amazon Smart Plug | Charcoal

Not being able to sync the gen-4 echo dot to my gen-3 echo device is a design oversight. Only one speaker will play music instead of both.I like the smaller size and the round shape versus the taller design. But not overly impressed. A white power cord with the black echo dot color scheme seems like a mistake as well. Did someone forget to manufacture black power cables?

Sound quality is awful but looks cool.

I balked at smart devices. I have Siri on my cell phone and Cortana on my computer and the last thing I thought I needed was another smart device. I got tired of having to be tethered to my phone to not lose battery and the constant interruption from alerts/text messages on the phone if the sound was on while the music was on, Siri not interacting all the time, etc. So I saw Echo Dot on sale and thought I'd give it a try. My life has been changed and my outlook is totally different. I have a small apartment, and the Echo in between my living room where my work from home setup is has become the perfect location for this thing. It came with a smart plug which I connected to the living room lamp and again - life changed. Alexa has a guard feature to text you if it hears something amiss in your house when you're away, I can tell Alexa to turn on the lights from my bedroom, and it responds to the fluctuations of my voice even my son is able to talk to Alexa and ask her questions about his game or random curiosities he has when he's over playing on the game systems. I absolutely love it, and am trying to justify adding more smart outlets and another dot to my bedroom because I have no reason not to. Talking to my room and telling the fan/light to go on/off is beyond cool, try it - you won't regret it.

Over the past year, we have turned our home into an Echo controlled Tech house. We love all that Alexa can do, however, I am super disappointed with the Gen 4 Dot.First, the white cord, really?Secondly, the sound quality reminds me of an old, single speaker, A.M. radio, its terrible.I'm going to return this weird little ball, and stick with the older version for now.

Bought this at a good price and it came with our first switch. We’re hooked. I ordered more switches right away.

Installation was easy to understand and set up. The echo itself looks and functions great!

Received new Echo Dot but never received the smart plug. Would not have bought the Dot withouut the great deal of Dot and Plug.

As a few people have said when you connect with a 3rd gen it has a muffled/distorted sound. I had reached out to customer service and they troubleshooted with me and gave me a replacement and the new one does the same. Just stick to the 3rd
