Don't like these at all. You have to apply far too much pressure to force the slides to take the shape of your target. Also, the amount of force required then makes the tines move laterally rather than backwards this giving you a poor representation of the shape itself. If I'd used them within a month of receiving them they'd have been sent back. I'd give them 1 star if they hadn't been so cheap.Avoid.

This contour gauge set consists of a larger gauge with a 10inch / 25cm scale on the central ruler and a more compact one with a 5inch / 12cm scale.They are made out of ABS plastic with a plastic lock and one is coloured orange and the other is grey. The pins move smoothly and it is chamfered at both ends so that you can easily draw around it. There is a lock at one end which is quite stiff initially on the large one and would not lockout at all on the smaller one but this is not the end of the world as long as you are careful.I have used the small one with a tiling job and it proved invaluable for finishing round a couple of pipes. You push it around the shape and lock it in place using the locking lever. this then allows you to cut a tile to match and produces a much closer and neater finish than my previous approach of paper templates.They are simple and easy to use and competitively priced for two gauges while the smaller one is also very useful for fitting around tight spaces.
