Be careful with the direction!
I needed a check valve for my water system because I added 1/2" PVC for the regeneration brine water. The check valve will keep any water coming back in the house from the drain line.

I did not want to run an airgap for my dishwasher and decided I would try something outside the norm. I ran a high loop out of PVC and used this item right next to disposer.
