We used this book instead of the Performance book
We bought these books at the prompting of a woman who was going to teach piano to our daughter. It turned out she was unable to teach her and the new teacher had never used these books. After going through level 1 books, we decided these books were very thorough and we liked how they progressed through teaching piano. We had a few other level. 2 books we planned to use, but they did jot follow the same sequence of teaching, so we bought these books again. We really like the songs they use for the lessons and they provide many duets to play together. The duets are not only fun, but they sound really good!We included this book I. The level 2 books, but the entire set of books is a little too much to get through in a 45 min. Lesson, so we cut out the Performance book, sight reading and added in Classicss and Hymns. The hymns book is suppose to go along with the level of lessons. In level 2, I am going to say we are moderately happy with the book. We don't recognize very many of the hymns and this is disappointing. The music seems a bit easier than level 2, but my daughter can work through the songs quicker. It's good to be able to learn something that is a little bit easier and not to become discouraged with all difficult songs. I really like how it does include songs that coincide with what she has learned. It would be helpful if suggested hymns were included with the lesson plan in the Lessons book. This is considered an extra book. As is the classics. Since Hymns and Classics are considered necessary to me, I replaced the sight reading and Performance books to make room for these two. We use the new lessons each week to work on sight reading exercises since I didn't buy the "sight reading" book.

Superb!
These Faber and Faber books have something for every level that has made my kids want to practice more just for fun. Occasionally lessons have been taught out of them, but I have tried to keep them as leisure so they have some fun choice about what they play and aren’t being graded or told what to do. It works! It is like having extra reading books around at their level when they are learning how to read. Just be sure to pick the books at or below their level. They love playing ones below the current level of learning because they can do it with confidence, yet they are still learning so it promotes “fluency”.

Hymns I can play!
These are familiar hymns and the composition sound advanced beyond this level, but I could play them all- as a beginning piano student.I’m already in the next level (2B). I definitely recommend this method.

Great series
My son loves to play for our church and these allow him to do that. This series is wonderful and follow the levels accurately.

Good series
I teach piano at a Christian school and I really like this series of Hymn books for my piano students. They can be used as supplemental material for any piano method and they give the students a sense of accomplishment by being able to play at church.
