Do Not Buy!!
I bought two stools over two years for my husband as gifts. The first one continues to operate as expected. The second stool had a manufacturing defect that caused the seat to sheer off its mooring. Northern Tool refused to address the issue because it exceeded their 1-year warranty. The stool was barely used and broke when my husband lifted it to move it . . . not even when he sat on it. He's only 180 soaking wet. All we wanted was a replacement seat, but customer service refused. And, this was after I told them it had been purchased over a year ago. Had they told me they wouldn't even consider it, I wouldn't have gone to all the trouble of downloading the receipt and taking pictures.Be cautious! We thought NT was a reputable company that stood behind its products.

I tried to contact the seller and got an error.
The chair is good. Assembly was ok just using the picture, not rocket science. The issue I have is that the height adjustment handle was broken in the box. If I could get a replacement handle without having to return the chair (especially now that it's assembled), I'd fix my review and be satisfied.

Do NOT buy this stool
This "stool" is a real piece of stool if you know what i mean. This product should come with a warning label. (may cause injury or death if you lean back).Had this item for less then 3 weeks and it almost dumped me on my head.1. Not easy to put together (cheap parts and a lot of fidgeting to get things to line up)2. Not comfortable at all.3. Can tip easy!4. The back rest dose not stay put and will loosen up if used. (its held on by two thumb screws under the seat)5. It broke with light use within 3 weeks of owning it.My advice would be to save your money and buy something that's made with better quality.I spent $60.00 on this piece of garbage and want my money back. You can see in the attached images how the part of the seat that attaches to the hydraulic just gave up and wanted to dump me backwards off the stool. In the other image you can see the new tilting feature. (this stool is not meant to tilt).Get something else!

Great all purpose chair!
This is just a great all purpose chair and at a great price and very high quality. It took about a half hour to assemble and just a quick note as others have commented previously to save you some time...The instructions are somewhat worthless...but most importantly, just remember the BIG ring goes on the INSIDE of the legs and the little ring goes on the OUTSIDE of the legs!!!! (Contrary to what the visual on the instructions picture and the picture they show on Amazon)....if it wasn't for that, it would have taken about 15 minutes to put together and a lot less head scratching :-) Very simple with a power screwdriver, pliers and an Allen wrench.

This thing holds up nicely... but with most product like this, use better hardware than the...
The product itself is awesome, but only 4 stars due to two things... first it doesnt have the best of cushions and second the hardware supplied to put them together is worthless. But I used grade 8 bolts, washers, lock washers and nylon nuts. So far they have held up nicely. But if you use the bottom bar to support you while you step off, be carefully, cause it will tip over. So put your hand on the back rest while stepping off. But over all... I love it.

As advertised
This stool was so easy to put together. I didn’t think the huge “N/T” logo on the seat would be quite so distracting. If you’re buying this for a shop or “manly” man-cave, it’s okay. If you want four of them for your kitchen island, you might rethink that logo unless you live in Northern Texas, N. Tennessee, or N. Tallahassee, etc. You’ll need an excuse for that logo, but if your name is Ned Townsend, you won’t mind at all. The swivel is smooth and the stool is sturdy enough for my 250 pounds to use with my scroll-saw. Hydraulics is holding up so far.

I have 2 now...great for the shop!
I ordered one of these in 2017 for thew shop at 29.99 plus ship and its been a great stool..no issues with it..I ordered another one in 2019 at 39.99 plus ship...10 bucks more but worth it. The first one has lost some of its cushion thickness from me sitting on it but also realize its my shop and I sit at it daily to do paperwork, order parts etc...it gets used a lot. The material on the seat has held up also, no rips or tears etc...So I didnt hesitate to order another one. The written directions aren't worth a hoot...just look at the picture and you'll easily assemble it. Leave everything loose until the the end and then tighten it all up...I put this last one together in less than 5 minutes. Very sturdy, easy to assemble and looks great in the shop. Easy to clean to! Cant beat that for the price. Even with shipping cost it was cheaper than any local store around here for one of these. I only kick myself in the butt for not getting 2 when they were 29.99...but its still worth the money. Overall for the price and how great its stood up to time..5 stars from me.

Very Good Value .. Suprising Quality
For 50 bucks .. such a deal. Not all that fond of the Patent Leather look, but I'll get over it. Very well designed and totally functional. As usual with alot of import stuff .. directions are scant .. there are two types of fasteners .. the 4 hex-head caps go in the top.Tools .. diagonal cutter (dykes) to snip all the plastic wire ties .. very creative packing .. ZERO styro is a big plus. Phillips screwdriver, 10mm combo wrench, 4 0r 5mm hex wrench, and 1/4" drive with a 10mm socket will be very helpful. Forget about using your drill/driver .. you'll just mung-up the screw heads .. the nuts are nylocks .. just take your time.Leave all fasteners just barely snug .. and do final tightening on a flat surface .. I used my table saw .. flat cast iron, and perfect working height. Still got a little wiggle .. not to worry .. easily adjustable feet will make it solid.Air cylinder works fine .. back rest is a good height for a 6 footer .. adjustable in and out .. could be modded to go higher with a couple of drilled holes but just fine for me. Nice range in height .. footrest in comfortable position. All in all, very satisfied with my purchase (bought two). The patent leather thing .. ex-army .. were not allowed to buy PL low quarters .. hehehe. The NT logo .. just complements their awesome 37 ton log splitter 15' away. Like Churchill said .. don't stand when you can sit. 5 Stars .. Highly Recommended.
