This is pretty good. I use it for marking on concrete and rebar. The back side (where there would be an eraser if it were a pencil) has an opening as if you could load the next soapstone stick in but the opening isn’t big enough. So, the clamps at the tip of the soapstone have to be pryed back to load a new stick then compressed to keep it from sliding back into the tube. The more you bend those clamps the more likely they are to break. And, when you compress them with the soapstone between them you could snap the soapstone. If you could load the sticks in the back end then it would work perfect.

Looks okay but bad quality. The “chuck” doesn’t work at all. As soon as you apply pressure, the soap stone pushes back up inside the pen. Unscrewed, the soap stone doesn’t fall out freely - you have to pry it out(hopefully it didn’t get pushed in too far). Basically useless. 2 stars instead of 1 because it came with a decent amount of extra soap stone.

Nothing compares for writing or marking on cast iron and black steel

Tighten by hand tightly but will not securely hold the soap stone. Might hold if you use pliers but that makes it about useless.
