An excellent resource for learning composition
I own all of Mateu-Mestre's books and his "Framed Ink" volumes are the best of the collection. When compared to several other books on composition that I've read and own, I find none of them come close to explaining such an abstract subject with precision like he does here. There are tons of diagrams and images that clearly lay out the concepts he's teaching, so well to the point where you can grasp most of the ideas he's explaining without even reading the text. The author really knows his stuff when it comes to arranging powerful images.I highly recommend this book. Money well spent!

Amazing follow up
I don't have much to say other than this is an amazing follow up book. Usually subsequent books from a series that really hit all the good notes turns to be not great, this one is amazing. It has a similar structure to the first but addressing completely different things. And in a way, even if you hadn't seen the first, you can absorb well the content from this one. Although I highly recommend that you do read the first book before diving into this one, just so you spent your time more efficiently. Amazing book!

An old dog with new tricks
Marcos Mateu-Mestre's approaches topics on composition that have been intuitively picked up by popular artists that no one else seems to document as effectively in clarity and practicality. The material is more of an extension from Framed Ink 1 on how we can adjust our paneling/framing for different formats and aspect ratios. With the rise of mobile devices with varying screens/social media platforms with different aspect ratios, Marcos covers different techniques in adjusting the storytelling into frame showing us to not to forget what format we are presenting our work in.

Its a good book but, its missing some critical composition elements
It's a good book and excellent if you own Framed Ink #1, plus any of the other books from the author.Note: the main focus of this book is compositional flow and where your subjects main focus should be. That said, it is missing some important compositional elements (framed or not). For primarily a "composition book," I feel very little attention is paid to "background, midground and foreground elements," and the different ways they effect composition. A whole chapter is missing on this subject alone, in my opinion. The "golden ratio is also missing" and other elements of composition like the "rule of thirds & such, is only vaguely mentioned. In my opinion, if you're going to make a "composition book," for an artist, all elements of composition should be addressed in full.Flow and the focus on your main subject, is very important for good composition in your artwork, especially "framed" comics. However, all elements of composition are important if you want great composition, be it comics, a portrait, landscape, "framed" or otherwise.

This book has the information on the "why" of a compositional choice
Full disclosure I have every book in this series. I also have 20-30 books on illustration and composition. While other books tell you what compositional choices you can make, they don't really go into why would a person would make that choice. This book does that. While the first Framed Ink gives examples for composition and their basic goals, this one goes into the "why" those choices are made.

Another great guide for visual storytellers!!!!
Marcos delivers another great guide for visual storytellers!!!! All his books manage not only balance the practical and the inspirational, but the necessary connections between the two. Readers are never left with technical knowledge but no ideas how to apply them, nor are they merely given beautiful examples without the guidance necessary to achieve similar results. Highly recommended, as are all the books!!
