Physical Examination and Health Assessment, 6th Edition: 9781437701517: Medicine & Health Science Books @ desertcart.com Review: ReviewMyf my Favorite Health Assesssment Textbook - I have used many editions of this book, I think I started out with 2nd edition, because I taught Physical/Health Assessment for many years. When I first started teaching it 2 or 3 semesters a year I had the opportunity to review many and this was always my favorite- especially when you started offering the online materials. Even if everything did not apply (I taught at ASN, BSN levels and had my nurse practitioner students use it for their basic review text. However many texts were available for review from 1990 to 2008, I reviewed them. In 2013 I simply went to desertcart and asked for Jarvis's newest book available on this topic When I review a text for course use I pick out the chapters of things I know very well and read them word by word, then peruse the other chapters, though after teaching 29 years I am quite familiar. I was also a Family Nurse Practitioner. Students did not complain about readability and pictures and so on, just how big the assignments were. The whole book is way to much for one course (that's why NP students need a good book for review). And I was pleased with the pain assessment chapter and especially slides. As much as it "pains" me to see in research literature, medical and nursing students are woefully undereducated on pain management' I have stayed somewhat current in pain management by belonging to the American Society for Pain Management Nursing ( and a few other groups like the American Pain Society). A close friend with similar nursing background decided in 1980 to select the most serious problem of our whole profession. We chose undertreatment of pain. We have slowed down somewhat . We plan to continue until we develop dementia or die. I will stop now, As a mostly retired nurse the chance to talk to nursing colleagues is not too common except in the every three month ASPMN meeting. If you are interested we have a website, the St. Louis Chapter of the American Society for Pain Management Nursing. To it's credit the national group has gone from 19 members in the late 1990's to at least five thousand, despite many hurdles posed by the DEA I retired early to take care of two seriously ill parents but I still teach an occasional Health/PE class at local junior college Although there are not a lot of changes in the actual human body I do love the updates on tips and techniques. Your book was very easy for me to do a self-review. It is so good for all the areas I fought for many years ago, evidenced-based assessment and critical thinking . Sorry, I am writing this very late, I think I reversed a paragraph and I do not know how to correct it in this format. Sincerely, Cathy Flasar MSN, APRN Review: Great book! - I usually sell all my books after I'm done using them for a class. This one is a keeper. Detailed description of examination. This book will be useful during my nursing career for sure. A lot of pictures! And the content is written in a fairly simple language that is easy to understand.

White chair covers
The item arrived when the original order stated it would - I was hoping it would have arrived earlier - it stated that it was mailed immediately but I was surprised at how long it took to arrive - I was going to cancel and go with yet another company and pay the expedited shipping which was cheaper than this company but was hoping for the best (I had ordered with a previous company that later said they made a mistake on inventory and refunded my money) - in any event they arrived a day after I needed them - the product looks good - I opened one package - hopefully I can use them for another event - I didn't want to go through the bother of returning them

Good reference book
This book was required for my nursing class, but we did not use it much. The chapters we did use, were very informative and easy to read. The material is useful and it has great pictures/ tables/ tips. Great book for reference and anatomy.

Great book with fantastic content
As a medical student, this has been one of the great books that I rad. Clear explanation that have well organized contents, a lot of medical term was well defined, most of the time you dont have to flip through the dictionary to look for a single medical term. Not like many other medical books that comes with dry content or rather dull ones. This book will keep you reading.

I absolutely love this book
I absolutely love this book. This is one of my most prized nursing books. I wish I had this in first assessment. It's subjective and objective portions are absolute gold, it really makes you think about how the pt may describe what they are feeling, as well as some helpful tips on how to dig deeper. It covers newborns, Peds, teens, adults. Geriatric and how assessments would vary in each by system.

Don't count on the evolve content on this boolk
The book is good, well detailed, with many pictures . The only thing I did not appreciate is the fact that the evolve content is purely and simply empty. I mean why bother advertising about something that you already know is not even there? I would have been nice to have some content on evolve. So don't count on the evolve content if you buy this book

Phy. Exam & Health Assess.. book
I was impressed with the speed of delivery of this book. I have been busy with a research paper and I forgot this class was coming up soon. I ordered the book and in only a few days there it was at my house. I was thankful of that!! The book came in the condition that was given-like new. The only thing was the package got a little ripped in transit. Being a bigger book it could have used heavy packaging but it that would have slowed down delivery I wouldn't recommend it. So, thanks Jimmy (?and friends) I definately would order from you again! cmp
