FAT FELT the DOPP KIT | durable waxed cotton canvas toiletry bag with leather handle (AlpineLake)

I rarely write Amazon reviews and as a matter of fact this is the first review I write. I'm very particular about my purchases and usually do thorough research before each purchase. I originally narrowed my search down to either the Filson's Twill Travel Kit or this Dopp Kit by Fat Felt. I chose this due to it being slightly smaller, cheaper, and has a beautiful and tasteful color combination (especially the red interior). When it arrived, I was immediately impressed with its quality and knew I made the right choice. Great value! The build quality is rock solid, the seams are strong, the materials are durable, and the brass zipper is robust yet silky smooth. It probably has the smoothest metal zipper on any product I've ever purchased with absolutely no snag. I think the hallmark of a well-designed product is doing exactly what it's supposed to do very well without any gimmick. This bag certain is that. I look forward to having this bag as my faithful travel companion for many years to come, whether to a nice hotel or a camping trip in the woods. I'm impressed. The only improvement I would suggest is more color options, perhaps a navy-blue/black/dark-leather combination (similar to Filson's) in addition to this brown/green/light-leather. I haven't had a chance to try out complimentary soap included in the kit, but I like the nice touch. What a great item. Searched extensively for a new travel kit for my husband. He preferred this over the Tumi and several leather kits. The canvas is unique and really cool, As another reviewer noted, this is the nicest zipper. Heavy duty but zips like butter. The size is perfect for my hubby, and he prefers the lack of pockets. Finally , the little loops on either end are perfect for picking up. Elegant, simple, unique design.

The photos for the sand dunes color are misleading. The last photo and the video are closer to the actual color and the color I hoped to receive. I was worried because of some of the reviews, but the bag is nice! I'm very happy with it as it was a gift. Medium to heavy canvas, a smooth, easy zipper and the color is wonderful. It was bigger than I anticipated but still a good size- easily fit an electric toothbrush, hairbrush, deodorant and other things inside. It might be a little over priced however it was exactly what I was looking for and doesn't feel cheap. I couldn't find anything else for less that I liked and I needed one to last as I was replacing a 20 plus year old dopp bag and didn't want to replace it, as a gift, with something inferior.

My girlfriend bought me this dopp kit after attempting to get me to throw out my old North Face bathroom kit. She got tired of watching pick out the decaying material from my tooth brush I guess. I'm really glad she did. She knows I'm a huge fan of Filson and products of that quality ilk and wanted to get me a high end kit that would last a long time. I wasn't disappointed in the least! This bag is made with a heavy waxed canvas with leather trim that makes me think I'll be able to hand it down to my grandkids come that time. It comes with this cool wool covered soap that I'm guessing will act as a luffa. Not really my thing but my girlfriend was impressed (I'll re-gift that part to her!) and thought it was a great idea. It's got style, feels high quality and is the perfect size. A winner in my book.

Never know what to buy my husband. He is the kind of guy who never wants/needs anything. But since he travels a lot, I bought this for him as a Christmas present. I love the way it’s boxed. It’s really nice quality so it warrants the price. And it’s big. It may be more than what he needs in terms of capacity but it’s really beautiful. Strong and durable materials. I liked it so much I bought one for my son who is in college and my other son who is college bound.

**update** I have now used this thing and have managed to fit what I need to in it despite the size discrepancy. Also, I will say this is very well built. I have not had any further zipper issues. While I still stand by my original grips, I also what to emphasize it is a well made bag. I had high hopes, yet sadly disappointed. First, this thing is made in CHINA. For some reason I thought it would be made in the USA, silly me; my mistake. I feel like it should be a requirement to state country of origin. Second, the actual dimensions are 9 1/4" Long x 4" wide x 4 3/4" tall. NOT the 5x5x9.5 stated. Too small. I'm concerned about the zippers, the inside zipper was all janky until I zipped it back and forth a few times. The actual quality of build is decent. I chose this one because it's liner was also waxed canvas. The inside seams are finished nicely. I wish the wax job was better. Of all the waxed cotton items I have this is the lightest wax job of them all. I'd say overall it's decent, yet miss-advertised and not worth the price especially being made in CHINA.

I researched and looked online for the perfect Dopp kit for at least 2 hours...I scoured Etsy, e-bay, and of course Amazon. I was originally looking for an all leather one, but couldn’t find reviews that were universally positive AND on one I liked. This one hands down was the easiest choice. Not only is it really handsome (I got my husband the teal blue) but it’s extremely well made. The two leather sides (handle/hook) are perfect and really make this standout. My husband loved it, and while he hasn’t used it yet, he was impressed. Even the box/packaging it comes in is a nice touch (there’s a map on the inside of the box) - FatFelt - you guys nailed it! This will be my new go-to gift for the men (and maybe some of the women!) in my life.

This dopp bag is great. The canvas exterior and leather handles are sturdy, while the inside lining is soft. The zippers on the top and on the inside pocket are well-built. There is plenty of space in the bag - I can carry an electric toothbrush holder, shampoos/soaps in a plastic bag, comb, DE razor, shaving brush in a case, shaving soap, pill bottles for pills/flossing picks, and other assorted items. I would say that I would buy another one in the future, but I don't see this one wearing out.

Awesome little pouch. Very durable, and the interior pocket is a nice touch.
