this was a gift, my friend loved it. it is sturdy and natural leather with a good feel to the tough. The pages are good quality paper with a nice cream color and good spaced lines.The locks required a ttiny bit of lubricant but that is expected and a single application will last at least a year.

I love this journal. The leather quality is ok - nothing to write home about but it does get a lot of compliments from its uniqueness. No smell, the pages are very thick and give a handmade quality to it which I love. The pages are smooth and allow for ink to glide across without smudging or bleeding thru. I love it and I will be ordering another once this one is full. Perhaps one of each design and have my own collection.

This journal came as it was pictured, all of the engravings are perfect on it. The latches are simple and work well, the journal feels sturdy and durable.The red stain came off on my fingers so much that I just went ahead and wiped it off with baby wipes, it is a darker brownish color now but I don't mind it.there were 2 major rips in the leather but it's not so bad. Overall I like it and will use it often.

Binding and front/back covers look nice and are durable. The gift receiver was very impressed with the lock on the journal book. He also commented positively on the quality of the paper.

I bought this for my daughter and her husband to use as a journal for their Pathfinders game, they currently use a spiral note book!! With Christmas coming I was trying to come up with some thing to buy they would not get for themselves. This is perfect. It has old world charm and the metal "locks" add just enough. The paper is smooth for easy writing and the rough uneven edges add another touch to the fantasy world theme. It is made of leather(?) and I was thoroughly surprised at the detailing. I would buy this for anyone even just looking for a journal to write down their daily thoughts. I would definitely buy it again.

Update: I wrote the seller and they quickly responded. I was sent a replacement straight away and it’s exactly what I had ordered. The design is embossed well and the leather is a good quality. It’s a beautiful handcrafted journal and I couldn’t be happier with my purchase and the level of customer service offered by the seller. Well done!I received a much smaller, approximately 4.5” x 6”, non-refillable handmade griffin embossed journal with only one latch and no keychain was included. Unfortunately, the item I received will not be sufficient for its intended purpose. The smaller journal is indeed beautifully handcrafted which is the reason I gave it an extra star. I have written the seller and will adjust my review based on their response. There’s always the possibility I was simply shipped the incorrect item and I can edit my review.
