A really good circle cutter (if you use a drill-press) - no idea about its use "freehand"
I bought this circular hole cutter because I needed to drill several large holes in both 3/4" baltic birch plywood and white oak. Unfortunately I had mis-measured and this cutter was 1/4" too wide for my drill press so I had to return it and get the next smaller size. It worked very well but was too small for the 10.5" hole I needed so I ended up doing that one with my router - that actually worked better but even the palm router was too large for some of the smaller holes which this one did without a whimper.Other notes: Naturally I set my drill press to its slowest speed before using this toolThe Baltic birch ply cut without a problem - the 3/4" depth was no problem although I did cut it in multiple passes for obvious reasons. The white oak was just over 2" thick and had to be cut very slowly, and (as planned) I had to cut the holes there in multiple passes, and from both sides of the board. It also cut very accurately but I had to do more sanding in the 3" hole which I drilled there than the smaller holes in the oak or the ply.I like it, it works exactly as expected, and it held up nicely - I would definitely buy it again.Recommended to anyone needing a good drill-powered hole-saw. (a drill press is best for holes over about 1.5" (3cm+/-) in diameter)

It works ...
The only problem I had with this tool is the drill bit being too short. When the bit broke through the wood it was near impossible to keep the cutter blades from slamming into the wood. Eventually the bit broke and after I installed a longer bit the tool worked perfectly.

Do not buy this
The product not only failed to perform as expected, but it also damaged my ceiling, requiring me to replace the drywall. Moreover, it posed a safety hazard as it spun out of control, causing me to cut my fingers and twist my wrist while using the drill to make a hole. Lastly, the quality of the construction could be better. it's challenging to make any type of adjustments.

This Is A Great Tool (but use extreme caution)
This really is a great tool, contrary to the other reviews. YES, the markings on the bars are all metric, but nothing indicated otherwise. I used a tape measure to setup my diameters, and made sure everything was tight (a must). I am not sure how many holes I bored today, but it all was very easy and very quick (I mean literally, in a matter of seconds). I have not tried boring through wood... yet. I used a standard variable speed 20 volt drill (preferred and an impact will not work), and went to town. For sheet rock, I pre-drilled using a 3/16 bit and then, I used the tool with the chisel bit in it. It worked like a charm. I did check after every hole or every other hole, for tightness as a safety precaution. I am sure it will loosen up if you don't. Make sure the drill is at the lowest speed and start by SLOWLY scoring, keeping as even as you can. Once scored, I would increase the speed and, in a second or two, the hole was complete. I would say, yes, this would be for an advanced craftsman as it is not the easiest tool that anyone could use. I say to use extreme caution as parts could fly off if not keep tight, and you are not aware of the associated hazards: not keeping even or trying to go too fast. The tool will do the work efficiently and accurately. I am very glad I to have this in my tool arsenal.

OK for the price
The item worked for its intended purpose, but definitely has some flaws. First and foremost the extended description of the item implies it can be spun with a drill. I was able to cut two holes this way, but cutting a hole with this tool in a drill is very unstable, bordering on dangerous. The hole it cut was no where near straight as I spent most of my energy just trying to keep the tool from binding and throwing the drill. This tool really needs a drill press to be used safely. My other gripes are that the measurement scale on the arms is in metric only, and the cutting edges were rough and had burrs when I received it. I was able to clean up the cutting edges with a file and was able to use the tool, but I suspect I will need to sharpen them before every use due to the low quality of the cutting edges..

Awesome
The media could not be loaded. Counters to the complaints I've seen in other reviews:1. Yes, it has positive stops, which are hard to avoid if your lights prescribe a diameter that doesn't match. I just chose the next smallest diameter,.and it was a great fit. Just a bit snug on insertion of the light, which I honestly thought was perfect.2. Yes, it can catch and yank your arm around and/or gash up the ceiling. It's not about being strong or a hand tools expert or anything patronizing like that. It's just about the surface speed of the cut. When I cut 6" holes it liked a slower drill RPM than when cutting 4" holes because the actual blade is further out and therefore traveling faster. For the first couple, use two hands on the drill and really slowly ease your way into the cut. You'll find the right speed quickly.I loved it. Perfect circles, minimal dust, several times faster and easier than using a dry wall saw. I put 44 cans in our new house, so this thing was worth every penny.

Package and weight were big issues.
I purchased the free donut adjustable circle cutter from Amazon and regret the experience. The main issue was the imbalanced weight distribution in both arms, making it challenging to align them properly. This cutter was noticeably heavier compared to other brands, and while the blades were sharp, the drill bit's function was inconsistent, often causing debris to scatter, creating a messy workspace. Additionally, the large diameter made it impossible to contain the debris. Although it managed to create a single hole that fit well, the dissatisfaction stemmed from these issues. The poorly packaged shipment resulted in loose items, causing the loss of one drill bit. Overall, this product did not meet my expectations. Also, the measurements standard was metrics, which was a plus for me, but it would be great to have both imprerial and metrics systems.

Broke on first use
One of the blades broke on softwood the first time i used it. I'm having a hell of a time trying to find a blade to replace it. Quite possibly a manufacture's defect, but still not impressed.

Bueno y nada más
Un poco inestable. Seguramente requiere navajas de mejor calidad .
