Bought these Attwood portable boat lights for some late night fishing in the trailer park retention pond. I know technically it is not a lake, but after a good rain and a little imagination it is close enough. Mounted them on the boat and headed out after dark with high hopes of catching bass. The fish, unfortunately, had other plans. After three hours I had caught exactly nothing except a mild sunburn from earlier in the day and a questionable buzz from the cooler. What I did catch was the attention of the entire neighborhood. These lights are BRIGHT. About an hour into the trip I looked over and noticed Miss Peggy standing on her porch in a bathrobe trying to figure out why it suddenly looked like daytime outside. Jimmy later told me he thought the county was installing a new streetlight. Randy claimed he could see my boat lights reflecting off the side of his trailer from three lots away. At one point a turtle surfaced near the boat, took one look at the lights, and immediately went back underwater. Smartest creature in the pond. As for the product itself, they worked flawlessly. Easy to install, stayed secure, handled splashes just fine, and made the boat visible enough that passing aircraft could probably have used me as a navigation marker. Excellent lights. Still haven't caught a fish with them, but I did accidentally wake up Miss Peggy and start a trailer park group text about unidentified lights over the pond. Five stars.

These will fit perfectly on any boat with a little bit of area to clamp on. I had to install a L bracket for the bow and the stern because these would not stay put even after fully tightening down because the surface wasn’t flat. The product itself is as described, still working after almost a year, just don’t leave the batteries in them for extended periods, this was my 2nd set in 3 years because these 1st ones the batteries busted and corroded the metal components inside!

I bought these navigation lights for a small open hull vessel I use to fish out of. First impression is that the lights are easy to assemble and install on the vessel, and feel very sturdy. The lights themselves are plenty bright and would appear to be plenty visible during a moonless night on the water. A drawback is that the quick releases feels like it does not want to come apart easily, the light itself on the mount, so do not force that as it is plastic housing. I also had to modify my bow light so it would be oriented straight, but each vessel is different. I am pleased with these lights. I think they are a relatively inexpensive item that will keep you legal and may keep you safe while anchored or running at night. I recommend them.

I have owned probably 20 sets of boat lights over the years for our jon boat. The boat is in the water uncovered from March until October so we needed something durable and long lasting. Our boathouse looks like a boat light graveyard. I chose these because they are LED and the bulbs in the older versions always stopped working at the same rate the batteries needed to be replaced. These assemble easily enough and you can mount the light to the clamp in the way that works best for your boat. I am happy to report that they are in fact waterproof given the fact that I dropped one in four feet of water before I even got it installed. Still works! It seems like the mounting clamp got an upgrade because these have extra rubberized padding which cuts down on rattling and loosening over time. Anything that attaches to a motorized boat with this type of mount will need to be tightened up from time to time but that’s just routine maintenance. I like the quick release that allows you to take the head of the light off the mount without unscrewing the entire thing from the boat. Makes it easy to change the batteries (which I didn’t have to do at all this year as LED uses way less battery power) or if you want to take the light with you off the boat. Hopefully this set will last longer than the others but they are already higher quality and easier to use that any other set I’ve purchased (including other Attwood sets)

These lights are awesome. I haven’t had any issues I’ve had them for almost a year now. 1 fell in the water, but it still works and very easy to use. Would only recommend for kayaks or small boats.

First thing, the photo for this item shows a telescoping masthead light when the fixed pole version is selected. This is very misleading. Also the pole is too short (dosent clear your head/body to provide 360° coverage when sitting). It is a plastic design so it's not very durable. Care needs to be taken when attaching the pole to the mounting bracket as to not crack/crush it with the two bolts. That bring me to the next issue... Secondly, the two bolts that attach the pole to the mounting bracket are way too long. You will need to cut/grind them down flush, or just short of the clamp surface, so they won't damage your boat when mounted. The mounts need to be tightened down as hard as possible on a motorboat to avoid slipping/falling off. Thirdly, the description States it meets USCG requirements, but it does not list the nautical mile distance that the USCG rates them for. I have only used these lights 6-8 times in the past year for 5-30 minutes each time with the same set of batteries. Overall this item is an inexpensive and quick way to make your small boat legal after sunset.

worked great on my scanoe. Added RTV silicon to the side of the tail light to cut down on the brightness in the boat. The white light is very bright

I bought these lights in October of 2023 for the rare occassion when I'd be on the water after sunset in my small skiff or kayak. When I received them, I tested the mounting locations, installed fresh batteries to ensure they worked and determined they did. I then removed them, pulled the batteries, put the caps back on, then placed both lights in a dry, sealed-lid storage tub on a shelf in my garage. And that's where they remained for almost 2 years. Two days ago we planned to be on the water after sunset, so I pulled the tub from the shelf, removed the bow and stern lights and placed fresh batteries in each. I hit the switch on the stern light and there was a dim (hard to see in daylight) oscillating flicker of white light. That was bad, but not as bad as the bow light which didn't turn on at all. I made numerous attempts to get both to work (mixing batteries, swapping the battery carriers, switching the caps all to no avail. The bow light is completely dead, the stern light brightened a few lumens, but not enough to serve its intended and legal purpose. Needless to say, I'm very disappointed in these lights and wonder how quickly they would've failed if they'd actually been used and exposed to the elements. As a result, I wouldn't recommend anyone purchase these.

These lights are a lifesaver literally they are very portable super bright and have great battery life if you’re out on the water after sunset these are a must. So many times I’ve come in from fishing after dark at a low speed and I can’t believe how many little aluminum boats I pass with no lights on. I just shake my head in disbelief I have these light on my boat and they are awesome I can easily remove them in the winter and but back on in the spring. I turn my boat over for the winter season and that’s why I don’t have permanent lights installed
