AcuRite Digital Clock, 18-Inch / Red

I bought this clock in August to help my kids keep track of the time and date for cyber schooling. I wasn't sure how I'd like a blazing red LED institutional looking clock on my wall and I was a little concerned the light would overwhelm the room. I initially preferred blue, but the price was so much higher I went with red. I decided to go with Acu-Rite over an unknown brand because I have their hygrometer that still works great five years later. Turns out, we love the clock. The red is bright and has a nice, smooth glow, but doesn't burn your eyes or discolor the room. I can easily read it from two rooms over, so I can do chores and still make sure my kids are online at the right time. There was a problem, though. Just a little over a month after hanging it on my wall, I woke up in the morning and the display was completely black. I tried another outlet, which confirmed that the clock did not work. Since it was past the return date on Amazon, I went to Acu-Rite's website and chatted with a representative. (Currently, they only offer support through chat and email due to COVID.) While on chat, I provided my receipt and pictures, and THAT SAME DAY, they shipped out a replacement. Two days later I have a working clock before the start of a new school week! I hope this new clock works for years like my hygrometer. While I can't speak to the longevity of this unit, many people seem happy with theirs based on the high reviews, and at the very least, I can say that Acu-Rite stood behind their warranty and acted extremely quickly with respect to sending out a replacement.

Excellent large display and very visible, not to bright at night, thermostat is fairly close, I would not base my day off of it but it's a close reference point. Keeps time very well the battery backup is a Plus. Have had absolutely no issues the cord is extremely long with storage in the back for access cord which is nice I've had this for over a year and is still working perfectly I got a blue one and a green one the blue one is good it's not too bright at night the green one I have in my shop and at night it's fairly bright both are legible from 40 50 feet away would highly suggest to others if looking for a good visible digital clock with thermostat and date I would buy again

Love how big this clock is. Can see it from a long distance. Keeps excellent time. Easy to setup.

November 2025 - For about 5 and a half years, there have been periods in the spring and summer where I turn the clock on daily for hours-long intervals, and periods in the fall and winter where the clock is turned on once or twice a week for probably less than 1 total hour a week. Nothing has changed about the appearance or function of the clock since my initial review. I'd say I got my money's worth, and I couldn't ask for much more from this clock. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. March 2021 - I’ve had the 14.5 inch red for 8 months in my garage. I came back to my order today to get the name to give to my sister. She saw it for the first time yesterday and liked it and I couldn't have praised a clock much more. Clear & sharp contrast. I can read it in daylight, with 5000lm bulbs on in garage, from at least 50 feet away. Temperature reading, that I’ve seen, has been as low as 20F and as high as 110F at 10 feet high in uninsulated garage. Temperature has had no impact on performance. Installed batteries keep time when switch is off. Flipping on switch produces red light immediately. After half a blink the screen reads all info correctly. I have not needed to make manual adjustment after initially setting the clock + daylight savings updates automatically based on calendar. I would purchase again and, as the review states, I would recommend to family

This display is large and very bright. Its easy to read from long distances. It was easy to hang with 2 screws and the included screw template was perfect. The button placement and cable management features are well thought out. I had some apprehension because some reviewers said it had really bad accuracy and the time drifted. I've run this one for two weeks now and while that's not very long, I'm not seeing any noticeable drift in the accuracy. Will update this post if I begin to see that issue. The only issues I have with the clock, and the reason for a 4-star review instead of 5, are two simple features that are missing: (1) The clock will ONLY do 12 hour format. It won't do 24-hour format. If this was explicitly stated in the description I missed it, and was really looking for it to do the 24-hour format. (2) There is no brightness adjustment. The clock is extremely bright and very easy to read, but in even slightly dark environments like operations centers or some offices it is too bright. It can be glaring to look at directly, and casts enough light that it illuminates the room and I don't even need to turn the lights on to walk to my console. I don't understand why there isn't a dimmer for this clock, not even a high - med - low button. (3) (Added 2020-09-18) This clock does not indicate when there has been a power failure; it will reset and continue reporting the [incorrect] time as though nothing had happened. No blinking numbers, no blinking colon, nothing. Update 2020-09-20: I discovered an important quirk about this clock. The clock requires power from the 5V 1.2A adapter to operate, although it also accepts 2 AA batteries for backup in the event of a power failure. During the power failure mode with batteries installed it will keep the time but with no display, and resume with the correct time after power is restored. That behavior was to be expected, but here is the important part: If the backup batteries are not installed and the clock loses power, once power is restored and the clock resets there is NO INDICATION that there was ever a power outage. I had a power flash at approximately 2300 one evening, and I was halfway through the next day before I realized that the clock was an hour fast. The power blip had reset the clock but there was no way to tell that anything was wrong without comparing it to another reference source. Even a $5 wal-mart alarm clock will blink to let you know that the power was interrupted. So if you get this clock, be certain to install and maintain the backup batteries or a power outage may cause the clock to start lying to you.

Installation on the wall definitely requires some work unless you opt to put this on a desktop. But I wouldn't recommend that because it's a little bit light and the weight of the cord might yank it from the table. Choosing a location on the wall could be a little bit limiting as the power cable is not very long (3m / 9 feet). Standard heights of walls are usually 9 feet so the cable stretches just enough to reach the power source. Therefore, a location right above a socket is almost always imperative, unless of course you have a cord extension. The LED display is definitely not as bright as the devil red eyes bright that the others have sworn but just bright enough to be visible during daytime or when the lights are on. Construction is not much of a standout as it feels like a cheap plastic and at times gave me the impression that it's frail and easily breakable. But since it will never be touched again after installation, provided it was not damaged during handling, makes its cheap plasticky feel not that big of a deal. Although I would have been willing to spend a little more if it were made of aluminum or something sturdier. Be careful when taking this clock out of its box as there are two screws that hold it onto the box that are not readily visible (transparent washers). These screws are only for fixing the clock on to the box and don't have any other functions whatsoever, as far as I'm concerned. I had no prior idea that its boxing would be like this so I just ripped it off from the box. Fortunately, One of the screws broke and it made me realize that I had to unscrew the other. The clock has sustained some damage, but since the damage was on the back and won't be visible, it didn't really matter. I was just a little disappointed because it felt like I am having a damaged good. Adjustment of time and other information was a breeze. On the back of the clock, there are three buttons: UP, NEXT, DOWN. Just press the NEXT button repeatedly to cycle through the fields. Use the UP or DOWN to increase or decrease the values, respectively. Overall, this clock fits the bill of what I wanted a clock to look like but not exactly what I was looking for. If it had the relative humidity reading, then this would have been the perfect clock for me. But since appearance for me is a little bit more important than function, I went with this clock anyway and I have no regrets. Out of 10 this is a 9, but since the scale that amazon uses is only up to 5, I had to round 4.5 off to 5.

We purchased this clock for an elderly lady that couldn't see very well. She couldn't see or read her wall clock. Decided to try this one and ta-da! She could read it!! Unfortunately, she passed away recently. We brought the clock home and mounted it in the garage. I can even read it way out in the yard. Note that this clock display is bright but adjustable. I would gladly buy it again.

I first saw this digital clock at Costco hanging on the wall for their employees, and I asked if they had it in stock. The staff member said they no longer carry it. I was disappointed because they no longer had it, but then I found it on Amazon. They are exactly as described! Great product, easy to use with vibrant colors and excellent quality.

I bought this around 10 months back and it’s still running strong. The battery helps for the backups. It has an auto light feature that dims to ensure I have a nice sleeping experience. If you need, you can always get the dimming stickers and stick it to the display to further better your experience. Anyways, it’s a good product, no complaints so far! 🧿

Buon prodotto si vede molto bene la numerazione un bel rosso acceso peccato però non fa le 24 ore ma solo le 12.. in più tocca munirsi di adattatore spina dato che arriva con l attacco spina europeo tipo inglese

I like this clock very much as it has very large and very bright numbers. It also shows, both a calender, clock and temperature, and very easy to set up, and very easy to see even when you are across the room. Great product, great price. I have this clock on the wall about 5 feet abve the floo; it makes it easy to see all the time date and temperature very easy. Fantastic clock !!!

compare varios modelos de reloj digital para el hogar y este para mi gusto es el mejor, ya que tiene brillo automático cuando oscurece baja la intensidad del brillo y lógicamente cuando hay luz de día aumenta el mismo. con este ya son tres reloj de este modelo y marca y le doy 10 de 10 , pareciera que tiene un costo algo alto comparado con otros modelos y marcas pero vale la pena la inversión
