This is great for new believers and those who already know Christ. Everything is directed from the word and instructs you to read the bible for yourself.

We want to stop forever, but we have to start one day at a time. This book is a guide to start today. Easy to read, well written, interesting, intriguing, and thought-provoking. Every day’s reading keeps your mind thinking all day long on inspiring truths.

"This book transformed my life" isn't 100% accurate, but it's close. "The lessons and methodology described in this book transformed my life" is a little closer, but still doesn't hit the main point. "Jesus absolutely transformed my life as I worked through the lessons and methodology described in this book" is the best way to say it. John's story is a thing of beauty and the work that God has called him to do has personally impacted my life and the lives of most of the people I know. This book is an excellent gateway to the freedom that is offered through Christ, and there is nothing more freeing than that. I was a slave to sin and emotionally broken and through these teachings and the grace of God, I have been set free from the chains of addiction. I pray that everyone that stumbles across this book gives it a chance because every one of us has sin in our lives that we're aware of, and even more that we're not. Using this book, John helps point you to the only one who can truly free you from those struggles and will equip you to handle whatever struggles life has yet to throw at you. Please give it a chance and trust God. He will set you free.

After coming to love John as a Teaching Pastor @Watermark Community Church in Dallas, I bought this book as a shot in the dark for someone I’m close to with a long-time addiction. After reading the reviews and introduction, I was hooked! I’ve now pilfered the book and am working this plan to conquer my lifelong love affair with groceries. Don’t make the mistake of thinking this book is only for alcoholics and drug addicts! Tapping the Father’s strength on a daily basis through prayer & Bible study and answering to an accountability partner can turn your struggle around! Only 10-15 minutes a day for 90 days will change your life!

I read this book to see if I would be confident that it could truly help people with habits that are controlling their lives. I have no doubt it can change lives in a huge way. John Elmore obviously understands addictions because he has had some of the problems himself. He has years of experience working with what is regarded as the world's largest weekly program of its kind. The program has an attendance of well over a thousand people each week and its participants personally attest to its success. As John describes in the introduction, the program's achievements are because it teaches struggling people to rely on Jesus, their personal support person, prayer and the proven concept of attacking the problem one day at a time. I'd very highly recommend this book to anyone with these kinds of problems. I'd also encourage churches and their members everywhere to read this book. We all have struggles like those Elmore identifies. Let Jesus' freedom start today!

I am SO THANKFUL for this book! After ordering it, I stared at it daily, as it sat on my nightstand for a month. I was in the midst of a lot & not sure if I should take on something else. And I didn’t want to fail at it, or not give it my best. But. Ended up starting the process with a friend and HOLY COW, praise God, it’s amazing. Like an overhauled, grown-up, gospel-saturated, Spirit/grace-based version of youth group accountability partners. If that makes sense?So. All that to say, I am loving it, I am being encouraged to take responsibility for my own sin (victim-mindset issue here) and seeing the full picture of our human story & redemption much more clearly.BUY THE BOOK, preferably with a friend, and start the process.🙌🏽

John has been preaching powerfully for many years at Watermark Community Church, specifically in short snippets on Monday nights in re:generation. He has harnessed his ability to take profound but short teachings and develop them into an effective book for everyone falling into hardcore addiction to those needing consistent spiritual tune-ups. The chapters are broken up into short 2-3 page days (90 total) where the reader gets an inspirational quote, relevant anecdote or illustration, and then scripture passage all of which hit home a central theme. The reader then gets to interact with the text, typically with a written prayer and opportunity for accountability. All of this makes the structure of the book not only easy to follow but enjoyable to read and useful in the reader overcoming whatever it is they need to recover. I feel an intimacy with God reading this book and that's what it's all about!
