Diablo Universal Extension for Drills - Impact Strong, Quick-Change Feature - 1/4" Hex Shank, 6" Length - DXT1010

Diablo makes some great products and this one is no exception .. purchased many their saw blades and drill bits and this is a new addition to the tool collection .. so far with impact bits and with attaching wire wheels have been happy on the versatility this tool offers. Good value for quality and smooth operation and fit of collar when attaching bits .. now part of my to go bag of tools! No noticeable wobble in the shaft and looking forward to using this tool further replacing some weaker and heavier collared extensions.

Well made, should have purchased long ago, right tool for drilling through railway ties. Simple to use with right bits, lightweight yet sturdy.

Feels heavy and solid; did the job, even with an impact drill though I believe they don't recommend that. Good locking on the bit; it wasn't loose at all. Great value for 12 dollars.

These are excellent, very solid and lock into place perfectly. They can be linked together easily.

I needed some extensions to position a right angle adapter 3 feet away to drill a vertical hole in an inaccessible location, so I ordered two of these extensions from Diablo to complement my existing Irwin 12" non-impact extension. I chose the Diablo because unlike the slightly less expensive standard extension from Irwin these are made of hardened steel and supposedly are "Impact Strong" to work better with impact drivers. Initial impressions were good - the Diablo looks well made and the quick release operates smoothly. I tested my long setup on a pilot hole and the Diablo's release mechanism jammed up. Once I got it released they worked fine after that. When it came time to drill the hole the Diablo's didn't let me down. The impact driver kicked in quite a few times when drilling the hole but eventually it went through all the way with no fuss, and the Diablo's separated easily when it came time to take things apart. So, net-net is they worked well. Time will tell whether they jam up again but so far so good.

I needed to boar out about .100" from the inside of an aluminum heavy wall pipe using a Spiral Flute Cobalt Step Drill Bit. I needed to go in 12" but the extension bit holder I had, kept letting go of the bit and when its inside an aluminum pipe it is not easy to get back out. I had seen good write-ups on the diablo bit extensions so I figured I would give it a try. I ended up putting the bit in the extension and it held like it was welded in. I was able to use the Spiral Flute Cobalt Step Drill Bit to boar out four pipes and the extension did not let the bit go in any of the process. If you are looking for an extension that will really hold the bit and not let it go then look no further than the Diablo by Freud Universal Extension. Out of a Rating of 1 through 10, I would give this a 20+ !

I use this 6-inch 1/4" bit extension regularly with my drill and impact, and it’s been very reliable. The locking mechanism holds bits securely without any wobble, and removing bits is quick and easy without having to fight it. The extension feels sturdy and well made, and the added reach is especially useful when working in tight or recessed areas. I haven’t had any issues with bits slipping or coming loose during use. A good addition to any drill or impact setup.
