Paint chipping off of block
I loved this toy at first and had it on my shelf in my sons play area just because it looked so cute but when my son turned 9 months and i pulled it down to start letting him explore it, I found that one of the blocks had paint chipping off of it. When i run my fingers across it, paint dust rubs off on my fingers. I understand that these things can happen but I still felt like i needed to write this up. My thoughts are that when i pull this toy down for supervised play time, I'll leave that one block on the shelf. I'll try to contact Melissa and Doug for a replacement part, that would be perfect. They really are a good company but an honest review is an honest review.

Paint chipping toy that fell apart
My son loves this toy. My main complaint is some of the paint chipped off almost immediately. I noticed it a few hours after opening it. For that reason I can't recommend it. Fast forward 2 weeks and one of the spokes fell out. I either got a defective one or this toy is very poorly made.

highly recommend--esp for 18 mo old!
this toy is WONDERFUL! the colors are great! i'm a nanny, and i gave this and another "stacking" toy (boxiki train) to my "charge" just for fun & developmental purposes. he's 18 mo old and waaaay into stacking things these days! the train was a FAIL (see review); but he immediately took to this! for him, at this age, the colors & shapes are unimportant--just the fact that he can successfully "stack" things on the 3 different pegs is what thrills him! he spent a solid 45" stacking & unstacking, then carrying it around to show me his "handiwork." he felt clever & successful as he slid the shapes on & off the pegs, placing different shapes in a random pattern, just stacking away! a lot of fun!1/17/19: Update…the pegs on this toy have come off NUMEROUS times. i finally bought the family a bottle of super glue to keep since we're fixing it what seems like every other week! grrrr!

Toddler loves them despite paint transferring over.
My 18 month old daughter loves these! Easy to pick up and to stack. Only complaint is that several of the blocks were sticking to each other when opening the package and I had to pry them apart. Because of this, most blocks have paint that transferred to their neighboring one. Though it doesn't affect the integrity of the blocks, and my toddler couldn't care less, but it was something I noticed. Paint may not have been dried before stacking them upon production, or the blocks were stored somewhere a little too hot prior to delivery to me.

Great Alternative to the Classic Towers of Hanoi
There's two product lines that are a win for toddlers --- Melissa & Doug and Fisher Price Little People. M&D are always great quality and this piece is no different. The wood is solid, smooth, and well painted. The square pieces are two parts that interlock, making them quite challenging. The round and octagonal pieces are more traditional. My 2 year old doesn't quite get the order and shapes perfectly yet, but enjoys building some very abstract towers from them. As she grows I suspect she'll grow to learn to do them, with the squares probably taking some time to get right, so it has growth potential. Nice quality, safe product.
