As You Grow: A Modern Memory Book for Baby

When you adopt a child, they often come with very little. More times than not foster children come with very little clothing, personal belongings or photos from their past. Basically, their documented life often begins when they enter your home. Our son existed for two and a half years before he came into our home and he came with little documentation from those years. For those of you with young children, you understand that means no maternity photos of his biological mother, no baby photos from the hospital or milestone images of his first tooth, his first crawl or his first steps. I don’t know what his first word was or his favorite foods when he was a baby. 2 1/2 years of blank pages. I have been searching for a baby book that would suit an adopted child and help me to piece together those years for him so that one day, he will have a special memory book to help tell his story. After searching and searching, i found this “As You Grow” a modern memory book by @theweekendtype. Guys, this book is absolutely dreamy 😍. I cannot wait to begin filling the pages. I've just had my third girl and over the years I have searched for a baby book that wasn't doused in pastels and splitting at the seams with generic cartoon animals (i like cartoon animals...but after your third girl in 4 years...it's no longer cute and feels stale). So when I saw this beauty...heard the words "linen" and "modern" I was willing to go for it. And was so glad that I did. It's filled with beautiful illustrations that are gender neutral, clean, stunning and quality. My other baby books aren't even old, and are already faded on the spine and impossible to write in with the spine binding. This one fixes all of that!So if you're looking for a beautiful baby book. A clean line, organic inspired, modern lines....this is the one! I took a lot of pics so you can see what I'm talking about. check out the bind and thickness of the pages! And the cover is so lovely!Oh and my favorite thing is that it goes up to 5 years old!!

This listing does not even do this book justice: this is my first pregnancy and so I really wanted a baby book that was in depth from beginning to end and with the modern look.... I’ve seriously never seen a more sweet baby book. This book goes all the way from a family tree, to finding out about the pregnancy, milestones, first holidays and seasons up to five years old!! It has pockets every so often and little spots for pictures. I am obsessed. The calligraphy and modern pictures are beautiful on the pages.

Finally, a modern baby book!When looking for a baby book to document my daughter's first year, I was frustrated at the lack of modern and detailed books that were available. The style of "As You Grow" is delicate yet sturdy, detailed yet minimalistic, structured yet open-ended. This book chronicles years 0-5 with its emphasis on your baby's first year. Pages that may not apply (ie: Christmas or Hanukkah) can easily be removed without leaving a gaping hole or tear in your book as the book is bound in a way that allows this! They have also left room for your book to grow thicker with pictures and artwork (so the pages won't outgrow the spine)! The book is also open for different family structures and is gender neutral decorated with gorgeous calligraphy and airy, whimsical drawings of plants and leaves. So much thoughtfulness has been put into this book and it shows!Sections of the book are separated by sturdy "pockets" that you can put letters/pages/artwork/cards in. They are made very well and don't "stick out" in a way that some pockets do in memory books. They flow seamlessly with the pages and provide a nice texture variation to separate the book's main "chapters" which include:* Before There Was You (The Pregnancy)* And Suddenly You Were My Everything (Birth and the First Weeks)* Discovering You (Months 1-12)* Memorable Moments (Firsts, Stories, and How you Made us Laugh)* Watching you Grow (Childhood Highlights (Ages 2-5)*You are So Loved (Letters to Baby)The purpose of a baby book is not just for you to remember but eventually to pass on to your chlid as an adult. Your child will appreciate "As You Grow" as a work of love when they are older as it chronicles their first 5 years of life in a special, witty, and thoughtful way. The book itself seems like it will last through the years. The pages aren't flimsy at all but more like cardstock. The binding itself seems dependable/hardy yet looks delicate.Overall, I recommend this book and think that it will be greatly appreciated as a gift to any parent who values style, quality, and beauty!The manufacturer provided a copy for an honest review. I did a lot of searching, considering a lot of features before I bought this memory book. I give this one 5 stars even though I think there could be some additions (personal preferences). Overall this book is the best structured and most comprehensive. Not to mention, it’s got great design/typography.For the most part, the pages are in chronological order. There is a section for seasons and holidays which depending on your baby’s birthday will probably be a little out of order-plenty of room for picture(s) of any size. There’s a firsts section which includes first haircut. The “Discovering You” section provides a page to mark down growth-but does not include info about teeth. This section also provides spreads that cover up to 5 years old-room for picture(s) of any size.I have included pictures of what I felt important. A charming, well-made book for your memories with plenty of room to write and all pictures. I would recommend this memory book to anyone who’s dedicated and will spend the time to fill out.
