Get em if you can find em.
These are the best. Hard to find these days. Anything below this price point is Chinese garbage. St. Croix backs the product but you won't likely ever need a repair or replacement. I have the 6'6" medium 4 piece and the 5'6" ultra light 4 piece. Both are great backcountry smallmouth set ups.

Joining the Ultralight Backpacking Cult
One of my luxury items while backcountry hiking is a fishing pole to catch delicious mountain trout. Previously had a collapsible rod which doesn’t come anywhere close to the quality and packability of this rod. Splurged on the rod and paired with a cheaper Shimano reel that I already had. Current setup is just over 1lb.This purchase has been a gateway drug into reducing my pack weight. I’ve become obsessive about it lately. So buyer beware if this is your first high quality piece of ultralight gear. It may lead to a new expensive hobby.

Manufacturing lack of packing materials
I am extremely disappointed in St. Croix. I have always heard of how nice their rods but have never spent the money till now. After receiving the rod and opening the package only to find absolutely no packing materials to protect the rod while shipping. I knew right then and there that my rod would be broken. Sure enough it was. If this is how the manufacturer likes to send their product then they can keep their product!

Fantastic rod
This is a great spinning rod! It slings the bait long distances, but has really nice touch for short, controlled casting.
