Jasper, TX [DVD]

So very far from the trough. Being born and raised in Jasper TX, I actually knew one of the white guy. It had nothing to do with race, KKK, or the Black Panthers. Although they were red necks, this was all over a drug deal that went bad. I guess that would’ve not made a good movie. The truth of the matter is that the black guy (which was a drug dealer, never had a job in his life), sold coke cane to two of the white guys that was cut with BC powder. When the white guys found out, they looked for the black guy for several weeks, once they found him was when he was drug behind the truck. Shawn only involvement was being there when it happened. I’m not saying that he was innocent or should not be punished. I just think that the story should have been told right. That is what gives different races a bad reputation. If you’re going to tell the story, tell the trough.

I got this movie because I remember when the incident happened. It's not particularly well made and it's very low budget. The director of the movie shared the same last name as the victim and said that he learned that he was actually related to the family. I don't know if that true or not. As with most movies, they really dumb down small towns. They present it like it was the Sheriff's department against the whole world. Jasper Texas actually has a Police Department as well and Texas Rangers and State Troopers were brought in during the trial. The actual murder is presented accurately (in court) but just about everything else is made to make everyone look like hokie idiots.

Tells the story of an actual occurrence in Texas. Highly recommended!

This is such a tragic story,very sad and it just shows you how evil our fellow human beings can be. My heart really went out to not only the family, but the whole town ,who had to endure the eyes of the whole world being focused on them. I was in Germany when this took place, and it shocked us all!

I remember seeing this came on the evening news. I was in total disbelief. I was interested n learning more about it. This movie will anger u, move u2 tears, ultimately surprise u. To think that this family forgave these people for their crimes will completely make u understand the power & love of God. This movie is wonderful, highly recommended but its sad that even though the sheets r gone, the racism is still there undercover. This movie is worth 10 times the price on amazon, superb quality

Arrived on time and in excellent shape. I've looked for this movie for years. I was born and raised 30 miles or so from Jasper, Texas. I actually live on the Jasper County line and this movie just hits home for me. It was sealed and there were no scratches or prints on the DVD. It played fine. Definitely happy with my product.

My spouse's family is from this town and he was familiar with the victim of this story growing up. I think that the subject matter is well dramatized and well acted, and anyone interested in sociology or racism should watch this at least once. Of course this movie will piss some people local to the area off, but what else is to be expected? A shameful crime was perpetrated there.

This movie is about a horrible murder that actually occurred. It is great to see how the case was not thrown under the rug and it is even more consoling that the family was given justice and closure.
