World Wrestling Entertainment The Unauthorized History of DX

Triple H and HBK
First of all I am a fan of both wrestling and Degeneration X, I have read a few wrestling biographies and autobiographies of various stars from various eras. I am sad to say that this book did not live up to all my expectations. I have read Shawn Michaels biography Heartbreak and Triumph and it was for my money a good read. I am guessing so they didn't cover old ground they just kept alluding to Michael's issues in his past. For the most part it seems the book is written by Paul Lavesque, who seemed intent on using his time in this book to do some political backbiting. I am not taking a dig at him personally but it seemed more about the issues everyone else had around him rather than a story of D-X. He doesn't really touch on his actions or thoughts at the time. Lavesque says in the book that really he and HBK are D-X but I think he himself will note that in the later stages it included several other performers....this section of their history didn't seem to get covered in any great detail. They also note that the book is called unauthorized but it has clearly been passed through the WWE censors. Personally I think a lot of their history was missing, many great matches were not mentioned, none of the good times were mentioned etc. I think if you like wrestling and this faction then it is probably worth a read as they do talk about a few choice moments that probably have never been published anywhere and does show the industry in another light. It is also written with a certain amount of "humour" in mind so as to be different from serious biographies. So if you are hoping for an in depth look at their work during this time and anything beyond the hate that was held for them and they held for other then you probably want to read their individual offerings as they seem to be penned a little better.

As juvenile as the group itself
If you want a book telling you inside stories about the formation of Degeneration X then this isn't it. This is more of a series of anecdotes supposedly written by Michaels and HHH recalling the skits that you saw on screen. Very basic and offers nothing that you probably don't already know. In terms of a WWE boom this is probably one of the weakest

WWE BOOKS ALWAYS RULE
Very funny insite into the word of WWE from the views of shawn micheals and triple h, you do really get the feeling that your siting in the room with them as this book rather then a look back on their careers focus on them striking up conversations with each other throughout the book, one thing for any old school wwe fan is that it's a big shame wwe went PG as the books are now aimed at teenagers and kids compared to the previous books which were packed full of stories for adults and filtered with swear words and saucy stories.
