I was debating an epirb and what I needed on my boat but this is so much better. First of all the program it is very simple with an app on your phone it uses your flashlight to do it takes less then a minute to do. You can reprogram it as well so I would say connection is very easy it doesn't need features you click blue button then red after removing cover and your done. Very simple to make it functional which is what you want in an emergency. It's beyond worth the money it's a quarter what an Eprib is and does basically the exact same thing for longer just switch out the batteries once a year and your done. The antenna is very simple to figure out as well had my 9 year old daughter do it and my wife for practice on deployment and they saw how it works and understand it in under 2 mins. I did this without batteries as well. If you think you need one get it worst case it's your "parachute" on the water if all else fails.
