would water go through the zipper?

The zipper itself is metal. The material around the zipper is minimal and appears to be coated with the same water/fire proof material. I’ve only had the case for a week or two and haven’t subjected it to any tests. Just loaded it with my important papers to keep near, as I live in an area subject to fire evacuations.

How much does this weigh?

Since we got it for our son who is in college it's not here for us to weigh but from the products description it is said to be 1.4 pounds, which seems about right after handling it when we first got it. Hope that was of some help.

Has anyone put this bag to the test?

Kind of....I out the fire proof to the test and held a lit light to the front of the case, along the zipper and handles.....nothing, no burn mark, weird smell. Great material!
