Thug Life
A novel about a man who lost some number of years in the United States Postal Service. It is about the life of a substitute mail carrier and a postal clerk of the late 50s and 60s. The work pressure while delivering and sorting the letters, the sadistic bosses, office politics and aging that has been dealt in this book could be easily connected to this very day with the kind of desk jobs that this generation's workforce steps out for. The last few lines, is something I read over and over again. The sense of humor that the lead character of this novel has is cut throat. He's a Thug. Just finished this off in a day. Some untouchable narrative and you can appreciate Bukowski once you are done with this. What a "Thug Life" this man had lived! Wow!!

GOING POSTAL HAS NEVER FELT BETTER
No need for a new review, there are so many others that explain why this book is a modern classic, so I won't go on and on. I purchased it after I read Ham on Rye. I can't say enough about the strength of Hank Buk's writing. I can't stand books that take forever to get to the point or deliberately confuse you with overly clever, complex sentence structure and words that are used so infrequently you need to look them up. I read to enjoy myself, not to give myself a migraine. Anyway, clearly, Buk's life wasn't easy. Many of his problems were his own making (as is the case with most folks, I think.) This book about his job at the post office, obviously, and how the job almost killed him in the end (11 years in total).. I hate working, I really do, and can relate to what he says. He moves you, he makes you laugh, and he makes you cry too. He offends as well; if you are female you may end up hating his guts. Once you've consumed Post Office, you'll want to purchase all his prose. What a writer!

Boa edição
Bukowski é bem melhor em inglês! Essa edição é boa, só a capa que é muito molenga e fica torta com muita facilidade, mas as folhas são boas, letras num tamanho bom, etc. No geral a edição permite uma leitura agradável.

The quality of the book.
As far as the writing goes, there has been said enough about it. It's great and I love it. But the quality of this book is horrible. I bought this for a tenner, so I shouldn't really be compaining about this. The letters are printed in a very weird size on the paper, it doesn't look great and doesn't make for an easy read. You can also look really easily through the paper. So that means the letters on one page will be clashing a bit with the letters of the page behind it. The book feels cheep. The print on the cover is low quality. It looks horrible, really. To be honest, if you don't spending a little more, I'd argue it's worth it. Otherwise, get this one. In the end it does what it has to do. It's a book.
