An Essential Resource
If you wish to understand the social dynamics and interpersonal dynamics of sexual and domestic violence, as well as practical ways to help those affected by them, there are a number of digital and analog resources available. If I were to recommend one book, however, it would be this one. Published by Safe Place in Austin, Texas, it has become nationally renowned, and for good reason. From a description of the warning signs of abuse to a history of violence against women to practical tips for volunteers, "When Violence Begins at Home" is, in my book, the gold standard of all resources. I cannot recommend it highly enough. On a personal note, I am now a volunteer for the organization that published this book, Safe Place. Safe Place is a nationally renowned organization in the effort to end sexual and domestic violence, and I am proud to be a part of that effort. Read this book, and you will want to get involved in your community as well.

Great Book & Great Seller!
This is a great overall book for anyone (beginner to professional) who is interested in the field of domestic violence. It is an easy read and will help you understand the vicious cycle. It arrived in great shape and according to seller description. I will use this seller again if they have books I need.

Very Informative...
Excellent book that was very informative on the issue of domestic violence. This is a great book for those who are experiencing domestic violence, working with survivors, and those who are seeking to help a friend or family member escape a violent situation. Publisher should invest in a kindle version!

DV overload.
Book is presented with the author's bias. Written from an advocacy prospective (Safehouse in Austin, TX) rather than objective information and certainly a woman's book.

When Violence Begins At Home
This is a very well written and comprehensive book about domestic violence. This is one of the best books I have seen on the subject and I highly recommend it for anyone involved in a DV relationship, or who works with people who are.

Very good...
I have two issues with this book. One, most of the information is based on the state of Texas so if you live somewhere the resources may not always be helpful. Two, at times the author comes across as male bashing and women are innocent victims. This book does not make clear that men can be victims of domestic violence nor does it acknowledge that women can be abusive. It is written by a domestic abuse survivor and would be a valuable resource for women in a domestic violence relationship, but is not impartial.

Domestic Violence
Excellent book. Gives clear explanation of what domestic violence is. Reading this book gives the real definition of what domestic violence is. Those who thought they never experienced domestic violence will think again after reading this book.
