Hal Leonard 101 Hit Songs

I bought this book with several other books in this series for my son who played saxophone for a year in high school and wanted something to play over the summer. These books have been great for his level and give him some variety to his normal band music. This book has more modern songs than some of the others including hits by Adele, Kelly Clarkson, Taylor Swift, Train, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Coldplay among many others. It also has a few classics from artists like Sting, Garth Brooks, and Bette Midler. The complete song list is included in the picture. The songs aren’t hard to play for a teenager with a year of band behind him. It’s not to say he doesn’t need to practice to play them well, but he is able to sight read most of the songs in the book with moderate success. For a better player, these songs may be very easy, but they are still great additions to a busking repertoire if you are looking for more contemporary stuff.

Typical Hal Leonard - a good choice of tunes, covers a range of abilities and generally a useful addition to any collection of music. My wife plays clarinet and this series of books is good for both of us as it means we can both play the same pieces from the clarinet version without having to transpose.

This book is amazing!!! It has all sorts of genres of music, newer age and older songs. Nirvana, Bonnie Raitt, Adele, Lady Gaga... music from all across the board. I bought this for my daughter who is in her 3rd year of playing saxophone and she absolutely loves it!! This has brought back her excitement to play, as she was getting sort of bored with the school music. When she read thru the list of songs she got more and more excited, immediately got her sax out and started playing. I would highly recommend this book to any one... of any age, it has a bit of something for everyone!!!

Habe das Buch für meinen Sohn gekauft, da er auch modernere Stücke spielen wollte. Seine Musikklassenlehrerin mag eher ältere Stücke und das Instrument nicht so. Daher war ihre Wahl für ihn oft unangenehm und auch nicht die schönste Wahl an Arrangements für Saxophone. Seit er nun dieses Buch hat spielt er wieder freudvoll und übt freiwillig wieder. Es ist eine Freude dies mitzubekommen, wie Stückzahl die Spielfreude leiten kann. Einige Lieder sind wohl schwerer zu spielen, aber er bleibt dennoch dran. Für mich somit ein guter Kauf. Klar ist es eineGeschmackfrage, aber eine gute Möglichkeit probieren welchen Stil man mag.
