I use this book to teach basic elements of the clarinet to new students. The book provides clear and meaningful step by step instructions on the basics of clarinet and the “how to” for all learners . Uncomplicated but not childish in content.

This is a great book for beginners. It has a key diagram, exercises and actual songs.

This Book of Clarinet Etudes not only MET, but it EXCEEDED my expectations! The book was in considerably better condition than advertised on the Amazon Site.

As a student and teacher, I've always liked the Rubank books. However, many students I've had can find them dry because they focus mostly on technique and don't always include many recognizable tunes. This is very true of this particular beginners book, so I would not use it as the ONLY book a for a beginner. However, it is very good at what it is designed to do, so I would use this book to develop technique in combination with a book like A New Tune a Day, which focuses more on playing recognizable tunes. For a student who really enjoys the clarinet and wants to excel, Rubank offers a focus on developing technique that is missing from most of the band method and other beginners books.

This book has been around for over 50 years. Itcovers the technical basics very well.

This is THE book to use to begin to learn clarinet. Exercises are tuneful and build in a logical way in keys of C, F, Bb, G, Eb, D. Increasingly complex rhythms are worked in progressively along with dynamics and articulation. The fingering charts are useful once you decipher them. There is not much explanation of how to choose among different fingerings, as instruction is assumed. This book is great for someone who is already familiar with musical notation and note reading.

I bought this for my daughter and this is the first year she was in band her band instructor didn’t give her any type of book. He was just printing pages off the Internet when he seen that she had this book he told her that that is a wonderful learning tool, and has now ordered them for the rest of the band students.

Mio nipote ha da poco iniziato a suonare il clarinetto. l'insegnante gli ha consigliato questo metodo che è strutturato davvero molto bene.Nella parte iniziale ci sono degli esercizi davvero molto semplici per poi passare a cose più complesse come qualche motivetto.Penso che sia un metodo progressivo abbastanza valido..

Invaluable exercises to build technique and embouchure for a beginner. Not the most exciting but invaluable.

Order and coverage of material was easy to follow.I am please with this book.
