Feels great to use on my scalp, not to hard on the scalp, and without any foul smell like some plastics have. It’s easy to hold without slipping out of your hand, and rinses out well. Not for those with long hair though. Very reasonable price for four.

An older friend who was a hair colorist gave me one of these. We have recommended them and bought them for people since. Every member of my family became an ambassador. Without one, scalps don't truly get clean.The blue one in the photos is about forty years old. It has seen heavy use and is only missing three teeth at the edge. It is made with more teeth at the center, where the most pressure is.Also, the body is sturdier. with the ridges on top providing reinforcement. Judging from some of the review photos here, today's butterfly handles are far weaker. If the ring style handles happen to last longer, it's probably because they are inconvenient and too small for most users to stick their finger in and merely serve as a ridge to grip.We use these for a quick scrub, not for massage. The softer silicone ones we've tried don't do as good a job in our opinion. (I would consider a rubber one, though, if I ran across one that I could check out first.) The octagon shaped ones we tried were a little too flimsy.We never found we needed extreme flexibility. The most important thing: make sure the item is fabricated as one single piece. Ignore "waterproof" claims. If there's a seam, water WILL get inside sooner or later; mildew/mold will follow.
