Outstanding folder
I've had this for one year now - also purchased one for a family member. After one year there is still zero play in this blade - it's machined so well that it doesn't loosen up at all. The blade is a little stiff at first but after a month or so it moves freely enough to flick open very quickly with one hand. The edge retention on this knife is probably the best of all of my knives. The G10 handle is superb for feel and traction. Yes, it's heavy for a folder, but it is built to last and to be a very strong folder - note that much of the weight comes from the large locking block and the full steel liners are not skeletonized - they're solid. I use this every day opening boxes, cutting zip ties, and my morning fruit - it cuts food superbly. I have several Spyderco knives and this is by far my favorite - the best looking and feeling of all of the Spidies I own. If I lost this I would buy it back in a heart beat.Update: I've owned this for over a year (also recently bought my brother one for his 50th birthday). Over a year later of heavy daily EDC use (mostly boxes, wire tie wraps, and food) and this blade has zero play in it. Solid as a rock. I've only sharpened it a few times - it takes and holds a wicked edge for a long time. Yes, it's significantly heavier than my SOG Aegis, Kershaw Ken Onion Blur, and my Benchmade Griptillian but this knife - blows them all away and is well worth the weight. It's my EDC worn on light EMS zip-off pants and I really don't even notice it any longer after wearing it for so long. Love the details of the knife - like the Golden Colorado USA Earth engraving on the blade - that right there says they intended it to outlast mankind.

Just Wow
This is just a great knife all around, not one complaint. I ordered this knife and actually received a lightweight version by mistake, which was handled quickly and painlessly, no complaint. So I now have a lightweight and this knife, which is great, especially after seeing how nice this one really is.This knife is just smooth and tight. The blade is centered and lock up is fantastic, I haven't even touched the pivot screw to loosen it up. Factory the blade flicks open and closed, some may want it looser but for me it's good as is. It came with a great edge on it, actually had some oil on top of blade with a hair on it, so someone made sure it was shave sharp, lol. The box was in great shape, never opened and had all the correct info, so no worry of a fake here.It was well worth the price and actually feels like a much more expensive knife. It just oozes quality, I can say it's just as great as my ESEE 4 fixed blade. It's so nice, that I'm actually thinking of just putting it up to hand down to the kids. This of course wouldn't happen if I didn't have the lightweight version. The only thing most will hate is the lock. It is stiff, much stiffer than the lightweight version or an Axis but I assume it will loosen with use. It's definitely worth the price and will have me looking at more Spyderco's. It's going to be a out and about knife (if not put up), while the lightweight will see daily use and small game/camp duties.

absolutely THE knife to own!
Finally got around to ordering my Spyderco Manix 2 plain edge version and it arrived today.Just like my half serrated version this one is the pinnacle of all purpose tactical perfection. Ive said many times that the Manix 2 is THE knife to own if you can only have one with the Para Military 2 an equal but different alternative. Its a masterpiece of design and engineering, made of excellent materials, made extremely well and made right here on Earth,in the USA !!! And you get all that quality, versatility, dependability and capability for $76!!! Amazing! Even at the usual price of $90 or so the value is off the charts. You will NOT find a better knife ANYWHERE on the planet for anything close to this price.period.My new Manix 2 was delivered with a nice sharp edge and the blade is a bit thinner behind the edge bevel than my other. Should make an outstanding slicer. The blade is just slightly off from dead center but will center up perfectly after break in im sure. A big surprise was the new stonewashed finish instead of the usual grinder satin finish. It is perfectly even and very nice looking.sweet! The pivot is beautifully smooth with absolutely zero play and lockup is bank vault solid just like always. It unlocks easily with firm tension and the blade detent is excellent as well. Just a perfect action .no surprise there.Ergonomics and grip traction are simply superb.some of the best in the business. And the handles versatility is second to none thanks to Spydercos excellent forward finger choil and overall excellent shape.Nothing bad to say here. It really is superb! But for whatever reason,if it just doesnt appeal to you,try the Para Military 2. But for all who are savvy enough to buy the Manix 2, you will soon understand why Spyderco and this knife in particular are held in such high esteem. Practically PERFECT!!! THE most highly recommended knife ever IMO and i have or have had hundreds of knives ranging from budget to very high end. This is the one!
