Reminder of simpler times
I really love the look of this little knife, its so classic. You can pull this out anywhere and not alarm anyone. It’s small, comes with a pocket sheath with clip. The blade can be made razor sharp. My only con; the base of the small blade is just a little to thick, so if you let the larger blade drop close it hits the metal base chipping or dulling your large blade. So I just have to give a little more care closing it. I bought it as a beater knife so I’m fine with it.

An excellent knife to collect or use
The Dog Bone Jack is one of the more interesting knives made by Rough Rider. I’m not sure if I’ve seen the same pattern made by another company. The box was designed by Brian Whilhoite, chief designer at Smoky Mountain Knife works.. I'm not sure if he is also the designer the knife. The knife has a small audible dog training whistle. The closed Length is 3 3/4 inchesThe knife has two blades; a spear master blade with nice blade etch and a secondary blade is spay blade. As you can see it is built on a slim cigar frame. When you consider the blade arrangement and choices, the knife is closer to "Half Stockman" instead of a true Jack knife, which would have both blades opening on the same end. What really sets this knife off is sawcut bone handles, the dog bone shield, small dog whistle and the nice collector's box.The overall fit and finish is excellent. The blades are extremely sharp and have a great snap. There is absolutely no wobble in the blades when open. The knife will look great in any collection and would also be a great knife for everyday use.Blade steel is Rough Rider’s 440a Razor Sharp stainless steel. The knife features stainless steel back springs, brass pins and liners, and nickel silver bolsters and shield. The dog bone shield is currently only used on this one Rough Rider Knife making the knife highly sought after. While its value is not going to go up as highly or as quickly as American made knives, the current demand seems to out strip current production numbers. So if you collect knives this might be one to hedge your bets on.

Poor Q.C.
I like this knife . it has a nice feel of control to it. It has a nice design also. That said the, the finish and appearance is the worst I have ever received. My hands actually got dirty handling it. The dull blades were smudged and covered in grime the back spring and liners appeared fresh from the forge. 1\2 hour of buffing ,polishing ,honing and oiling I had the knife that I should have taken from the box. I guess they were pushed for time that day.

Not bad but came with Nick in the blade
It's a nice knife the for price the fit and finish are good would be 4 starts but it came with a scuffed blade that had a nick in the edge caused by the big blade hitting the little blade when closing

Interesting Knife
Nice knife and an interesting design. I was impressed with the tone and volume of the whistle. I gave it to my daughter to carry when she hikes with her dogs.

Nice knife
This is a nice sized pocket knife. Slim and well finished. The whistle is neat and has a nice sound. As with all the other rough rider knives I've bought it arrived super sharp.
