More and more manufacturers are deleting the previously included mobile chargers when purchasing a new EV. I had the misfortune of being of the of the lucky ones in my new EV purchase. We recently got rid of our 21 Telsa Model Y and got a 23 Ford Mach-E. While we had previously installed a NEMA 14-50 plug that served us well for the included Telsa Mobile charger with a 14-50 adapter; Ford wanted to charge us $500 for the same setup.The Grizzl-E Classic is a well built, cost friendly, cosmetically attractive and easy to install charger. I like how I could choose been themes for the exterior cover of the charger and to which we ultimately went with an Avalanche one to blend in better with the garage background. The charger came well packaged with a surprise bag of microwave popcorn.(maybe a Canadian thing 😊 ) Setup was easy, I simply located a spot close to my 14-50 plug, found a stud, installed their bracket and it was up and running in no time. With the existing 14-50 plug, no electrical knowledge is required. I really like the quality of the charger cable(thick) and the actual J1772 plug as the top metal prong is metal(most are plastic) and the release button is the same type of metal. I also like that the cap for the connector is physically connected to the edge of the plug.As to charging, my EV had no issue connecting to the Grizzl-E and it starting charging at a stable 8 kw. There were no charging faults or issues with my last several charging events. As to the lack of smart features, I really don’t think that’s a detractor at all as they are not needed with most modern EVs as most have onboard scheduling for off peak charging. I simply plug in and walk away with a charged car the next day without a hitch.Good job Grizzl-E for a well designed, affordable level 2 charger.

My Chevy Bolt EUV OEM charger has been unreliable. Can't get Chevy to replace it, so researched aftermarket chargers and landed on the GrizzlE. Great improvement!*Reliable! Starts charging immediately and completes the charge every time. My OEM charger would often not start charging at all (on the exact same, 50A, GM contractor installed outlet).*Faster. Charging at 40A default setting for the GrizzlE vs. the 32A default of the OEM charger. Noticeably faster charging.*Installs easily and looks very good! Neat and tidy compared to the OEM charger. Installation is actuall optional, you can charge just by laying the GrizzlE on the ground and plugging it in, however, I wanted the cords tidy and out of the way. Just mount the wall bracket, attach the mating bracket on the back of the GrizzlE with four maching screws and off you go.*No unnecessary SMART features. As most folks say, your car has more and better features for reporting on charging anyway, certainly mine does, so really appreciate the simplicity and removal of additional points of failure in the GrizzlE design.*Built in Canada! Hurray for North American manufacturing and supply chains!*Truly built like a tank. So solid, all metal, huge diameter cords, big screws and bolts, very nicely finished. Like the blue on white finish in my all-white garage.*Cord and plug hanger provided. Appreciate this getting the plug into a reliable and convenient location. Mounted mine right below the GrizzlE.Note that this version is probably not the best version for portability, though you could lift it off the wall mount and transport if necessary. Also note that changes to max charging amperage must be done via dip switches inside the case. Good safety feature, not very convenient if using on different amp circuits. In my case, not an issue.Highly recommended!

I got this as a secondary charger and prefer it to the one that came with my car. It is simple, fast, plug n play. No frills. There is just a single light that says charging or no. For the price, its perfect. It doesn't have a screen or anything so if you want bells/whistles this isn't the one.

Have been using the 32a portable charger that came with our ID.4. After 9 months the handle fell apart, so purchased this after reading a bit online.The connected chargers are double-priced, and reviews mentioned charging issues with lack of connectivity. We have an Eero mesh, and a few of our IOT’s struggle to stay connected, so decided to save the money.The portable one at times didn’t charge, which is a PITA. This charger has a buzzer - problem solved assuming we can hear it.This thing is extremely well built, feels like it will last forever. Easy install. The cable is longer - we park outside so the extra reach helps. And 20% faster charging doesn’t hurt.In short - the chargers that come with the cars are fine, but not made for daily charging. Wish we had bought this upfront.

I have had this for about 9 months and use it every week usually twice a week. Love the construction, much more solid than other chargers I have had. Charges fast, no issues. I don't use any smart features and it is inside a garage so no idea about the weatherproofing. Best part is it is not made in China!!!!!

This thing works perfect for my needs. I live in Canada and can see some cooler temps in the winter. I also get a ton of rain. I have had this for about a year and a half and it's held up to the weather without any problems. Grwst price, well made....and its Canadian.

I was looking for a no nonsense charger that was simple and bomb proof. My instillation was outdoors and south facing so I didn’t want a charger with a lot of plastic that will likely fade and crack over time. I also wanted something that did not bring attention to itself. The Grizzl-e fit the bill. It is small, simple and solid.A lot of the more expensive chargers have wifi, apps and other fancy features for monitoring charge and best charging times. You don’t need them. Your car has all those feature built into its software. You will be doubling up on utilities costing extra money for no good reason. Get a simple dumb charger like this one.The Grizzl-e’s housing is all powder coated aluminum and completely weather tight. The cable is thick and inspires confidence. It mounts easily.Things to improve:-I was surprised that this pricey piece of hardware was packaged with no foam. Everything was just packed in a box and shipped. When Amazon delivered it, the box was beat up and I could hear all the parts rattling inside the box. While the charger worked fine, there was a slight scratch in the paint on one of the top edges that marred the all black exterior.-The cable for the plug is very short. This severely limited the position of the NEMA outlet.-Esthetically, I think the charger would look better without the cheesy claw marks. The cleanness of the box is so neat and simple that the addition of this design element is distracting in a bad way. People who’s homes have a cleaner, more modern style may be turned off by this one design feature.

This charger is simple and effective. I do wish that Grizzly sold a 48 amp charger with the simple attributes of this one, but this one is good and requires no app, software, passkey or anything like that, perfect for my situation.
