The DrainX Auger worked like a charm completely clearing my drain in just minutes. Its pretty gross but a tone of hair came out. Pics are gross ( sorry) but shows it works so well ! There was a negative review that mentioned a malfunction of the unit but in further reading it became clear that the user was not using it properly. You must read instructions or watch a YouTube video on how to use a snake/auger. The long steel coil is not supposed to wind back in by turning/cranking of the handle! You extend and retract the coil by manually pulling and pushing it in and out. The turning of the crank handle is done only once the steel coil auger is pushed into the drain and the coil is locked into place with the screw to hold it once it hits a blockage - then you crank the handle and push the whole DrainX unit at the same time. The cranking of the handle spins the locked steel auger and the added pressure digs into the blockage .

It really unclogged the clogged kitchen sink. But keep in mind these: After your job is finished, remember to wash the snake with high pressure water and also spray WD40 to the metal parts so that it will not get rusted and you can use it later as well.

It's nice for its money. Not so easy to use as fully automatic electric versions, but it's doing its work nice!

Like a lot of products, no instructions with unit. Watched a couple YouTube videos. Work the unit down until it stops at your problem, or a corner. Leave 6" from the auger to the start of the pipe. Crank the handle and when the units moves ahead, feed out more cable. Crazy easy and worked real slick. When you get close to the end of the 25', the cable is painted red. Ready to go for the next time now. No hesitation in recommending the product.

Good:- it is technically capable to do what it is advertised for.- the long spring/snake is very helpful in reaching the remotest blockage.- build quality is good and sturdy.- my last purchase was lacking integrity- the snake came off of the housing after the first use! This one is still okay.Bad:- it is heavy as it should be; but there is no mechanism around it. The designer should consider having a tripod or at least a bi-pod to rest thins thing while one’s cleaning the blockades. It take time to get the pipes completely unclogged. So, the hands start to feel the weight and pain.- the design is not very user friendly.Recommend?Surely recommended for those looking to clean the pipes/blockades in their sink. It has some design limitations but gets the job done. I have only used it once ; if it survives repeated cleaning cycles, this would be more value for money.
