MoCA 2.0 Ethernet to Coax Adapter TIVO (YTMC-51N1-M2)

Before sharing my experience with this MoCA "converter" it must be noted that our DSL provider's speed is lousy no matter what we do. We live in a rural area and consequently have virtually no reasonable choices (satellite is expensive and slow) other than the local telephone company which is slow but faster than satellite and slightly less expensive. The main reason to go with MoCA is to establish a solid signal in various rooms in the house - wireless is erratic and there was always some loss of signal.My original setup used all Actiontec boxes and worked very well. After a few months we decided to add another room and we found this company's version on Amazon at a significant discount so decided to check it out. Bearing in mind our slow DSL signal, our experience shows no difference in performance between the two company's offerings with considerable cost savings. Time will tell if it is reliable and we have no idea if it performs as well with faster connections but we are very satisfied.

Simple and straight forward device that I plugged in next to my main router and connected to cable. In another room where my Tivo box is I did not have wired ethernet available. Using MoCA support native to the Tivo Bolt I was able to easily get my Tivo on the network. The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is the higher than expected latency adder for this device. Pinging between a computer - switch - router - moca - tivo is about 4.6ms. computer - switch - AP - wifi - tivo is about 1.6ms. computer - switch - router - tivo (I ran a long cable) is .2ms.So I can only conclude that this added over 2ms latency to packets. In the end this is acceptable, but not an expected result.

Could not get it to enable a MoCa network. Documentation is sparse and not really clear. Bought this to establish a MoCa network in my office were the cable modem was so I could interface my new Tivo's via coax. Plugged the devise into the cable modem wall outlet, then plugged the cable modem into the devise. Made the Ethernet connection between the device and the router. Nothing. Flipped the coax connections on the devise. Still nothing. Ended up moving cable modem and router to the living room entertainment area and interfaced the Tivo to the modem and had it serve as the MocA bridge.

I bought this because I wanted to start to upgrade my MoCA network with v2.0. To this point I had been using the Actiontec ECB2500 devices, which were working fine, but I've added two Tivo minis to my network (which already had two other Tivo devices), so I thought an upgrade to MoCA v2.0 would be worth it. The Yitong device was cheaper than the Actiontec v2.0 model (apparently for a reason), so I went with it after seeing the mostly positive reviews.When I received the Yitong, I tested it on the downstream end of my already established MoCA network, and it seemed to work fine for my Roku. I later swapped out my older Actiontec ECB2500 that I had been using to establish the network at the router with the Yitong, and the resulting internet connection was very poor. I have Tivo minis on my MoCA network that couldn't connect to the internet reliably (e.g. netflix/amazon apps would load at a glacial pace or not at all). The Tivo minis would also fail their ports test when the Yitong was connected. I have since switched back to the Actiontec device, and everything is working fine.I have splitters, diplexers, and an amp in my coax network, so it's possible that some thing in that mess is not playing well with the Yitong or more generally with MoCA 2.0. Regardless, I think I'll pay the premium for the Actiontec the next time around.

It pretty much does what I need. My new set top box (Arris VMS1100) did not get along with having the signal passed through this box, so I put a MoCA splitter in the line before the converter and both the Arris box and my WiFI router are happy. I would have liked to have been able to just pass the cable feed right through this box, and save the extra $15 or so in the cost of the splitter & extra coax cable, but it wasn't completely unexpected.

Admittedly I never leave reviews, however this product is excellent. I did initially hook it up incorrectly but that is mostly because I misread the diagram. If you go by the pictures, and take your time, you will hook it up correctly. Once I hooked it up correctly, it took a couple of minutes (at most) to do all it's network magic. Once all the lights came on, I tried to transfer a 30 minute show from one TiVo to our other TiVo, it look 2 minutes at MOST. Before I had the MOCA adapter, we had to transfer wirelessly. For a 30 minute show this would take at LEAST 30 minutes. Wirelessly transferring an hour show was usually impossible (it would generally time out). I can also now STREAM from one TiVo to the other, and you honestly can't tell you are streaming, there are no 'stutters' or anything. So far this product has not caused any interfere with cable, general internet or even connecting to work with a VPN.

This device works as advertised, just plug and play. I wanted to remove my Actiontect FiOS router and just use my ASUS AC3200 router instead so I could get away from having to deal with double NAT. I simply removed the coax from the Actiontec and plugged it into the YiTong bridge and plugged the Ethernet cable into my ASUS router. Once I finished getting my ASUS connected to the ONT my FiOS on demand and guide started working properly again. I just wish the device were smaller, but you can wall mount it with two small screws.

I tried these thinking I would save some money compared to the Actiontecs. The speeds were not consistent at all and they would drop signal regularly. I replaced them with the Actiontecs and I no longer have this problem. A buddy of mine also had the same issue. Maybe I just had a bad batch, but these did not work well for me at all.
