Rega Planar 1 Turntable. Matt White Finish with Rega Carbon Cartridge. 2021 Version

I’ve been looking at this for some time. It was time to change from my pretty good Lenco. Comparing with others in a similar price range, and the Rega 2. All the reviews are excellent. So I took the plunge and it arrived today. Setup is so simple and fast. The sound is superb! I run it through my late 70’s and amp and it’s just fantastic. So much better than my lenco. No motor noise, crisp audio and a delight. First album on it. Wish you were here. Highly recommend the Rega 1.

My first turntable and it's an excellent one, build quality is great and is very easy to setup. It also obviously has fantastic sound, I have mine setup with a headphone amp for a headphones setup.Very impressive, and is worth the money.

Easy to assemble. Sounds good. This is a manual deck which requires the turntable to be lifted off to change speed's. There is no auto pickup at end of record. If you are happy with that, which I am, then this is a really good deck.

Haven't had enough time yet listening to my elderly vinyl but so far this is a beautiful product (even though it's Rega's cheapest!!), absolute doddle to set up and a delight to use.

I bought this after the failure of my 33-year old Linn Axis. Linn no longer makes anything in my price range, and with my level of use nowadays something modest is fine.The deck is easy to set up. The base is very light compared to the Linn but seems stable enough on its three feet. The lid requires two hands to raise it as you can't get one finger underneath it without the whole deck moving. The lid hinges are poor, just a piece of plastic with a thin bit in the middle which allows them to flex. Overall the deck looks uncluttered, as it should given its basic level of functionality.The default tone arm and cartridge seem well engineered and produce good quality sound. Bias claims to be automatic. Not sure what that means, but there's certainly no way of adjusting it. I expect it's just set for the supplied cartridge and that's it. Tracking weight is similarly preset, in that you just slide the counterweight onto the arm until it stops. You could conceivably make some adjustment for lighter tracking by shimming out the weight.I'm using the deck with a Marantz PM5005 integrated amp, and the volume levels from the cartridge are fine. This is just as well, because out of the box the deck produces a lot of hum and static noise at high volume settings. So far I haven't been able to reduce this**, but this noise is not audible at the levels I listen at. There is some direct noise from the motor but again not a problem in practice as you have to be up close to hear it.Overall the sound quality is very good at the price, a good first deck for someone getting started on serious vinyl listening.** I have since added a Behringer PP400 phono preamp to the system for just £16. Linking this to the main amp via the grounding posts on both items substantially reduced hum and noise, without noticeable loss of overall quality.

Very smart turntable with sn uncluttered appearance. Very impressed with the sound quality.

what a fabulous record deck with excellent sound quality has bought all my old records back to life

The overall sound is good but the construction is cheap and nasty. The lid fits poorly and is difficult to open without two hands and the cheap plastic hinges do not inspire confidence.The 3 feet should have been 4 and why not make them adjustable for purposes of achieving a level deck?Not sure I want torecommend this one.

Stunning design and so, so easy to install. Sounds wonderful paired with Naim power and Dynaudio speakers!
