DOWELL Total Blackout Window Privacy Film, Room Darkening Glass Film

My husband and I are renovating an older 1990 home that used to have the absolute ugliest vertical blinds throughout the house, including the sliding glass door leading to the Florida room from our kitchen. I didn’t want to swap old blinds for newer ones—I wanted something sleek, modern, and functional. This frosted window film delivered exactly that! The horizontal lines add a clean, contemporary vibe and give the door a high-end, almost architectural look. It lets in soft, diffused light while providing privacy. The end result looks polished and custom—like something you'd see in a luxury place, not a DIY project. Application was a breeze. It was easy to cut and forgiving during install. The bubbles worked out nicely, but be warned—leave at least 1/8 inch on each edge. If you go edge to edge, the bubbles get trapped and it won’t adhere properly. Once it dried, it stuck securely and hasn't lifted at all. Prep is key! We scraped off any gunk, cleaned with glass cleaner, then went over everything with soapy ammonia water before squeegeeing it dry. During install, spray everything: the glass, the adhesive side of the film, even the front. You’ll absolutely need a good squeegee to get the best results. If you’re looking for an affordable upgrade that instantly modernizes a space, this is it. Highly recommend!

Very beautiful, great quality and quantity, my husband has mentioned our bay windows next! I used a rotary blade to first cut closer to the size, then got a better fit with a exacto knife. The pattern is so beautiful when the light is coming in throughout the day. I bought the film as way for my Catio to be less visible from inside my house. Perfect for my vision of whimsy and privacy!

This is perfect for what I need. I just installed a new door on my guestroom. It has a windows in it and a doggie door. Perfect for what I need, but there was no privacy so I got this window clean to put on the inside. It went on very nicely. It’s so much better than just putting contact paper or something like that because this you put on wet and he can slide it around a little bit to make sure it fits and then you squeegee to get the bubbles out…pretty much fool proof. I think I got that pure frosted

I would have given 5 stars, but instructions didn't clarify which side was which. Everything else was clear. Once I get it up I know it will be super great.

I'm impressed, this was actually so easy to install using just water and a little scraper to get rid of the bubbles, it's 10/10 and for such a great price. It came with no tools so you'll need your own scraper, cutter, scissors, etc. The light goes through very well, which is what we wanted, while giving us more privacy than the curtains this apartment came with. Once the excess water is removed the film doesn't move at all, it looks like it will hold very well but I'll try to update this review in the future.

I was confused for two seconds until I realized it sticks on like those wall stickers you get during holidays. The backing was easy to peel off. It isnt sticky like tape you have to stick it on with water for it to work but dang does it work! And so pretty! Makes a rainbow when sun comes through!

This is the second time I purchased this - not because I wanted to. The first time I used this film, it was extremely difficult to cut to the right size and not adhesive. Thought maybe that's just an one time issue, because most reviews were nothing but praises. I bought one again with all tools ready. This time the film scratches easily, full of bubbles, scratches easily (not durable), barely makes any difference for privacy! $50 for this, such an expensive lesson. Do not buy this, you will be wasting four hours in your life trying to make this work.

I like there's a texture comes to it, easy application but i was expecting that it will be like more opaque in color as it says its for privacy. I used it to out glass shower since the kids and growing and we like to emphasize the importance of privacy.

film efficace en terme de brise vue, tout en laissant passer une jolie luminosité. j'ai entendu des passants s'arrêter devant mes fenêtres et se demander si elles étaient ciselées, l'effet est donc très réussi. la pose n'est pas difficile, je me suis aidée d'un sèche cheveux lorsque les coins ne voulaient pas adhérer, ça a très bien marché et depuis que c'est en place, rien ne se décolle.

This is a great product! Very useful if you’re renting and need to create a private space! Very beautiful and when the sunshine’s little rainbows shin through which is lovely! So easy to assemble as well!

I wanted something like this for my window because I'm facing a large, grey building and it's a very depressing view. I was also looking for something to lessen the intensity of the sun, as I'm facing west and therefore have it shining directly into my window and blinding me for a good chunk of the day. This is perfect! My view of the depressing grey building is now obscured and replaced with a nice rainbow shimmer, and for the first time ever I can fully open my blinds and not be blinded by the sun. It isn't quite late enough yet for me to see any rainbows shining around my room, but I am quite excited to see what that looks like when it is. Just the slight rainbow effect on the window is already so pretty. It was easy to install, if a little fiddly while the piece was still oversized as the parts that went further than the glass couldn't be stuck down and pulled at the rest of the piece. Once I got everything in the position I liked, it was easy to trim down the overlapped side and wipe out the bubbles or make other small adjustments. I may yet still need to trim some areas, as I do see a tiny bit of peel back on the bottom, but that's user error. This genuinely makes me so happy, and I'm glad I got it. I'll update if I do end up having issues with it.

Makkelijk op maat te snijden en hecht goed aan het raam zelfs met meerdere keren loshalen en vast maken. Als de zon er goed doorheen schijnt is het regenboogeffect goed te zien. Bij minder licht is dit niet zo. Het folie zorgt voor redelijke privacy. Niet zo goed als bv een melkglas type folie maar ruim voldoende. Bijgeleverde instructies waren helder.

Impossible to get it on place. There is Zero glue and water dont make it stick.. and the colors are not from the film, it is from ev surroundings..
